Happy 4th everyone! This is my all time favorite holiday believe it or not...better than Christmas for me. We normally celebrate like there is no tomorrow...tons of fireworks (really good ones) , red/white/blue decorations galore, flags everywhere, tons of food and cocktails with friends..unfortunately I have to work tonight and then again tomorrow morning, so no celebrating for me...I think it's the first time in a long time I haven't been able to celebrate. On the upside, since I will be at work tonight I will be able to see fireworks from the control tower and they are awesome up there...you can see fireworks from miles and miles away and it's panoramic.

Anyhoo...I hope everyone has a great Independece day! Show your pride and wear your red/white/blue!

Independence and freedom are deeply ingrained in me. My first European ancestor came to America from Ireland in the 1700s and took the name Freeland. The name has been carried down through the family ever since. One of my ancestors crossed the Delaware River in a boat with then General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. I cannot take credit for being a vetran myself, and fighting to protect our country, but vetrans have my deepest admiration and respect for the service they have done.

I see many developments in our country that are disturbing. As a student of history, I know that when people begin to rely on their government, instead of the government relying on the people, that government and that nation are in danger.

I pray that God will have mercy on our nation and keep us safe and strong. God Bless the U.S.A.!

Dapper Dan and I are off to a parade today. Then home to cook out and do fireworks. Big noisy ones for the boys and pretty sparkling fountains for the girls! Fortunately, Dapper Dan doesn't mind the noise. First year for our Buddy dog, so we aren't sure about him. He doesn't mind thunder, though.

I always am thankful that the noise of fireworks is all about celebrating and fun, and not about snipers on the rooftops or car bombs. God bless America!

Here's our day, we set up our petting zoo in a small town a few miles away for their 4th of July celebration. It was fun but I was really beat last night. Here's a few pictures.
