Have you ever looked closely at the footsteps and the gait of your dog or puppy? I happened to be outside today and have always since I got Lakota noticed how she saunters like a lion and walks very flat-footed...but what really blew my mind is when I really took the time to watch as she played and ran around the yard with my Boxer, and I zeroed in on her gaits!!! I guess because of always riding the big horses and doing dressage and western pleasure I'm in tuned to the footfalls of the walk, trot and canter...and my puppy RACKS

!!!!!!! I'm wondering if this is a normal thing...as I have not found any Cane Corso websites that mention anything about their dogs racking!!! Yep when she trots she actually puts forward the same footfalls on each side of her body, instead of the opposite! VERY interesting!!!!

lmao!!!! gawd, I thought I was the only one that did that!!!! lol

Moxie is VERY lateral in her walk!!! Drives me friggin nuts, coz my horse does it too, and I know how to fix it with him!!! But yeah, is it normal???

lol Mox does some pretty good lead changes too!!!

I thought that was called pacing... I've had herding dogs that did that. I guess if they are comfortable and covering ground well there is no harm!

My Australian Kelpie, Brooklyn, did that! I don't know if Bronx does it or not, never noticed. LOL I think he just basically tries not to trip LOL!

O.K.- I have been watching storm all day and I can't get him past four paces to see any kind of sequence

Yes! I do notice it in all dogs I watch move. I'm sure it's from observing horses.

Shih-tzu's have a very distinctive gait that is really bouncing strutl. They carry their heads high and just to see them "trot" you can tell they think a whole lot of themselves.

My collie, Kelsey, is becoming very graceful as she's maturing but as a puppy she had an ugly kind of lumbering motion. Reminded me of a dinosaur like I have seem them move.

My parent's bearded collies are very bouncy too and just fancy fancy movers.
