I picked up this filly on Friday.

Original owners, called her Chant. I tried, really I did, it doesn't fit.

People I got her from, called her Tango,,,,,,,,,,I have a Tango here, he is 3, so need to keep his. He really is a Tango!

Yearling Filly,,,,,,,her papers say, Classical Enchantment.

She is very very upheaded and sooooooooooo about herself.

I would like to use something from Classical Music, a Classical Play,,,,Either a composer name or the name of a song, and it needs to be a little on the,,,,,,,,upiddy side, to fit her. That is not a bad thing, believe me!!!!! Fluid song with a beat to it,,,,,,,,,,,,,hope that gives you some type of a picture.

Think on it, and let me know!!!!!!!!

Oh, poor thing! Her mommy can't give her a name. You better send her to me and I'll name her! :bgrin

I don't know enough about classical music to help. Sorry

We actually have the same problem here with a big horse-- her registerd name is Lonsum Cruiser and her previous owners called her Cruiser and then the next one called her Daisy. Nope. So my daughter is calling her one name and I am calling her another. We're both stubborn! LOL

Why change what she is used to being called??? We might not think a name "fits" but if thats what an animal is used to then I think we owe it to them to call them by "Their" name. If this was a weanling who had not been called anything that would be different but SHE thinks her name is Chant.

how about some native american names such as:

Ahyoka - Cherokee meaning "She brought happiness"

Onida - "The One Searched For "

Tiva - Hopi - "Dance"

Wachiwi - Sioux - " Dancing Girl"

Weeko - Dakota - " Pretty Girl "

Ahyoka caught my eye because she seemed to bring you a lot of Joy.

Oh oh what about JOY

Lyn, she is a yearling,,,,,,,,,,,,,,a year old not until June.

She has not been called Chant in months. That is what first people called her. So no, she does NOT think that is her name.

2nd people called her Tango, but only for the last few months.

I did say all that in original post though.

I was thinking Classy too but it sounds too much like Cassie and that name never really stuck with me for an animal..lol!!

Hmm...well here's a site I always refer to, I think it has some really unique names and LOTS to choose from!

http://www.20000-names.com

It's helped me out a number of times!

How about Dancer, Diva, Giselle(ballet), Carmen(opera) or Classy..I like Dancer or Diva the best..Diva sure fits her..and goes with Classical Enchantment..

Only you will be able to name her, but here are a few thoughts:

I checked the Thesaurus, and Classical has soooo many meanings : haughty, classy, lofty, snazzy, highfalutin', slick, sublime, goodie (we had a Goodie-Goodie once) , sterling, elegant, glorious, chaste

Enchantment : glee, joy, mirth, rapture, felicity, fervor, frenzy, paradise, rhapsody, allure, charm, glamour, lure, magic, charisma, prestige, ravish, razzle-dazzle, style, delight, glee, bliss, ecstasy, glory, black magic, hocus-pocus, hoodoo, voodoo, whammy

I never knew there were so many meaning of enchantment..lol! Maybe you can get something out of these.

I always get out my thesaurus, and start looking. some of my choices are--

MUSIC

Melody

Jazz (my fav)

ragtime

bebop (cute)

CLASSICAL, ELEGANCE

grace

felicitous (perhaps shortened to felicity)

FANTICY, IMAGINATION

fancy

chimera

whimsy

desiree (luv it)

Name-making is one of my favorite things.

First of all WOW and congratulations! She's a knock out and I'm glad you're in Indiana and not closer so I don't have to show against you anytime soon.

I like to different but I like to use part of their name so I'd go for "Classi".

I am a great beleiver that they will find their own name sooner or later.

Our little filly foal didn't have a name for 2 weeks, then the unthinkable happened, sh fell through the lid of the septic tank and ended up swimming in there, we nearly lost her.

Anyway, after that she was named Winnie the POO! and still is...even on her papers

:aktion033: Thanks so much for helping! I had not even thougt of looking up in places you guys did. I appreciate it a ton!!!!!!!!!!

I reaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy like Jazzy!!!!!!!! She looks like that too! She really thinks she is cool enough to be Jazzy!!!!!

In regard to what Lyn suggested: I've renamed older dogs before and in that case I would just choose something similar to the original name, if possible. It has always worked out in the end I don't think the animals are too confused for very long if you work with them. Sometimes what people choose to call their pets just doesn't work with the new owner and I think that's perfectly okay...

As for what to call this gorgeous little mare, I also like "Classy!"

What is her full registered name?

I usually like to take part of the name and change to use it.

Good Luck :saludando:

I didn't even have to think on this one Carlolyn, she is one "Classy" lady.

How about Pirouette or Symphony, both are elegant and go hand in hand with classical music.

Promise
