I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, and their input. We picked out the breed (GSP) , and since these dogs were several hours away, we had our vet recommend a vet in their area to inspect the puppies. He made the choice for us, and now we are the proud owner of a German Shorthair Pointer female. She is neither the biggest nor the runt of the litter, and he says they are super looking pups, from a very nice home. The man is retired and has two females and one male (all hunt) . I didnt really want a pup from a large breeder, and she just fits the bill.
She is being delivered in time for Christmas, and I am so excited for my husband. This will be his first dog since he was a boy at home.
And these dogs are supposed to be good pets as well as hunting companions. Ill post pics when we get her. If i can ever figure that out.
( And can you believe this, he got me what I wanted most for Christmas too, a SOLID WHITE padded tennessee walking horse) . Another story.
