As one of those people going through a dispersal I can tell you my story. I am 57 years old, have been showing for 45 years, breeding for 35 years in one registry or another. I got into minis in 2000 as a middle aged woman who didn't want to get hurt with the biggies and the minis were the perfect fit for that time of my life. This is a huge area of marketing for our mini industry.
I started small but got quality horses, showed them to championships and world championships. Most of my horses are home bred, much loved and would make great pets or show horses for the right person. I am waiting for the right homes to come along before I sell them and not dumping them at the next cheap auction I can find. They will stay here and be well cared for and loved until that person comes along that will do the same.
Last year I had a heart attack and had just turned in my insurance papers so it wasn't covered. Financially I am going through tough times as many others are and going through bankruptcy. I need a life style change. The work of keeping the horses care up to my standards is getting too hard for me to do physically. I would be better off financially if I could get out from under my monthly care costs.
These are tough times for everyone and we are just doing what we can to survive.
