This is such a conundrum OH!Horse radish is a Dock plant- just a specific one!!
I have it growing wild and it is heck to get rid of, too!!
Rhubarb is not really a vegetable, is it???
Rhubarb is certainly one vegetable that has managed to totally confuse me over the years; it's classified as a vegetable in all gardening books and show schedules, but always eaten as a fruit. Indeed a vast number of cultivars that we routinely classify as vegetables are in fact botanically classified as fruits. Any vegetable that develops from the flower is a fruit, a good example being peas and beans whilst all the peppers, chilies and Aubergines also fall into the Botanical classification of fruit yet are eaten and exhibited as vegetables
based on the flower principle then brocoli is a fruit because we eat the immature flower heads
and Rhubarb leaves are toxic but the stems are safe yet rhubarb is used like a fruit for preserves or pie and actually rhubarb has a really cool flower of sorts.
Then there is corn which is more closely related to grass
