Hi everyone, my name is Julia and I am a 15 year old fanatical animal lover. Equines (big or small) have always been my favourite animal but of course i absolutely LOVE them all!. I have been lurking around this awesome forum for quite some time now (I have always loved minis) and decided to join when, well, I GOT ONE!
Before i tell you about my dream coming true, here is a little history on how i came to LOVE equines!
Well, when i was around 3 my dad left and mum (who loves horses and animals as much as me) decided to get me a mini so i wouldn't feel as bad about my dad leaving. She found an absolutely BEAUTIFUL grey (white) mini mare who we named Moonlight and she was the most quiet, loving thing ever! You know, those mother type horses who know that human children are delicate little things, much like a foal, that need teaching in the way of the horse. I have seen a video of her and i and WOW! What an absolutely BEAUTIFUL horse, inside and out!
We eventually had to give her away (to a WONDERFUL home!) due to changing circumstances. We had her for around 2 years I think. I dont remember much about her but I will always remember that she was the one who gave me my love for equines, (and possibly all animals!) and the more than infinite LOVE she gave and still gives to me. I LOVE YOU MOONLIGHT!
Anyway, back to present day. I have wanted, no, NEEDED a horse since Moonlight and well, I dont want to go into detail but I have been through a rough time lately and mum decided (missing having horses herself) that i could finally get one! I started looking and gee, it was hard and at times heartbreaking, to find the one!
Well, I came across a small site of mainly Quarter Horse breeders, not advertised much, who also had a few minis for sale. My heart skipped a beat when i saw this GORGEOUS taffy coloured mini on their site, so adorable and when you looked at his pics...and saw his eyes, you could really FEEL that this pony had a GREAT temperament and was beautiful, inside and out.
I didnt think much of it though (i was looking for a big horse at the time) and kept looking. (I did favourite/bookmark him though!)
Well, one day, being bored, i decided to look through my horsey bookmarks and came back to the site. He was still for sale and after looking into his eyes again, i knew it, i had found my horsey soul mate
Mum could feel his beautiful soul too and agreed, he was wonderful! I contacted the seller and asked some questions. After hearing the responses, yep, he was perfect!
I told him (seller) that it wasnt definite and mum was still thinking (big commitment!)...it seemed i wasnt going to get him at times due to many factors but things pulled through and worked out and i got him!
He arrived 3 days ago now, I was shaking when he came down the float, after so many years, my dream has come true! (i have worked with horses before but didnt enjoy it much as you dont get to bond with them, its just not the same as having one! )
He is a 77.4 cm (around 31 inches i think?) taffy coloured registered Mini Pony so he is not as refined as most of y'all mini horses (which i DROOL over and are GORGEOUS by the way!
) He is 11 and is registered with the AMPS. (Australian Miniature Pony Society) I have seen a photo of him in show condition and WOW! He looks pretty close to your mini horsies!
(still more pony like though) His show name is Red Gully Cochise but to his friends i have named him Hendrix
Well, i cant say enough good things about him, he is SO QUIET! NOOOOOOTHING phases him! (though i know he is still a horse and NO horse/pony is completely bombproof, he is close though!) He just settled down into his new home with some many scary things so quick! Didnt blink an eye! I swear, he is SO quiet, the most quiet equine i (and mum-and thats saying something, shes been around a LOT of horsies!) have ever known-especially for a stallion!
I dont have pics loaded onto the comp yet but his ad is still up with 2 pics of him in paddock condition, can someone please tell me if i can post the link or not?
Apart from being extremely quiet, he also has a BEAUTIFUL soul, just as i had felt! Like the above mentioned Moonlight, he is a horsie teacher and gives out more love than i could ever imagine!
He has made my horsie dream come true and i cant rave enough about him, you would be reading all year and this is long anyway! So let me just say: I LOVE YOU HENDRIX!
P.S Thanks for this GREAT site, you are all lovely and sorry for the looooooooong post! Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day full of life, love and horses!
