Welcome to the Forum.

My husband and I own 12 minis - one is in foal so plan to have 13 next year.

We live in the North Georgetown/Stamping Ground area -- and belong to the Bluegrass Miniature horse club (meetings are monthly and mostly in Shelbyville).

We are also members of the local American Driving Society club (Spokes and Spurs). We joined this year, but unfortunately were not able to participate in any of their events in 2005.

Would love to meet you and your family in person some time --- maybe see you at the mini shows at the horsepark?

Merry Christmas

JJay and Kim Porter

Rabbitsfizz- The reason for the difference of tack on the two of them is because when we first started training Suzy (the black one) we had her in the bit with the blinders and she went fine. One day she decided that she did not like the bit and started being really silly in the cart, so the man who was helping me train her sugested just driving in the halter and she loves it. Locita is a lot more on the forehand than Suzy and she is stronger to, probably just because she is green. She is also a bit of a pig! She loves her grass!

I started her out without the over check but she would grab a bite to eat every other step!, The overcheck is really only on her to keep her head up off the ground, I have'nt used it to position her hed at all.

P.S. thanks for the tip about the shafts, I had just gotten the cart and was still adjusting some things, but I will take a closer look at them next time I go out.

Bluerocket- If you know of any little shows in the area please let me know. I would love to try one but i never know when they are!

Welcome to a future fellow driving enthusiast from Ontario! Once you get going with it I'm sure you will love it!!!

Jessica, I don't know if you have shown yet or not. If you want to get your feet wet there are county fair shows galore in this area. If you join the Bluegrass Miniature Horse Club you will get a monthly newsletter with the shows listed in them........................... Our next Bluegrass Club meeting is January 15th (place to be announced). I can let you know if you are interested. We are a fun club & have a Fuzzy Fun Show every October............... There will be two big shows in July at the Horse Park & one here at the Fairgrounds (Louisville) & the annual Kentucky State Fair.............................. If you don't want to join you can check out our club info here

Hello, from your neighbor. I live on Hwy 68 near Shakertown, just across the river from Jessamine County, in Mercer County. I have loads of minis, and also show Tennessee Walking Horses. If you are ever in Harrodsburg, come by. I would love to meet you. Your minis are very pretty.

Hi Cathy_H,

Thanks for the info. I had thought about joining the Bluegrass mini club, but am not sure I have the time, although now that it is winter I don't have much going on. I'd love to come to one of the meetings and see what its all about. The little local shows sound like fun, and I'd like to try one someday. The only mini shows I have seen around here are the big ones out at the horse park, so I wasn't sure if there were many little local shows in the area. Glad to hear there are.

It's really nice to meet all of you, and hello to all of the other Kentuckians, maybe I'll get the chance to meet you guys in person someday
