Hi littleum,
What I was posting to compare out of your $450 was the actual show cost...to enter one horse....there are other factors that will make it cheaper to go with a trainer (hotels and eats, gas ect)..but that's not was being discussed in this thread...Cost of Shows and show fee's. Yes, you probably did pay $450 but wanted to show what you paid to the club in actual show fee's. This is still a very good thread as it lets others see what is taking place out on the show circuit.

People seem generally resistant to enlisting the aid of trainers in Miniaturedom. So when you said "trainers charge extra fees" (sic) I wanted to zip right in there and derail any potential trainer-bashing about being nickel-and-dimed and "where's the value" ect ect.

But I do know what you were doing and I am happy to share my show costs in the interest of general education. ;) This is a pricey hobby, and really the best we can do is pursue good value & bang-for-the-buck. There aren't many places to actually cut costs and there's really no way to make it "cheap"

" Actually, the one show(Drayton) is $50.00 flat rate, however this year I heard it is Canceled!(?) "

NOT sure where you heard this show was cancelled Desiree, but it is ON. They have changed the miniature day from Saturday to Sunday -- but there is a note on the MHCO calendar to that effect.

I have not actually seen the fair book yet , so don't know if the cost is the same as last year or not -- since the weather was so bad last year,I know the fair did not do as well, but they do really try to keep the cost down to get as many exhibitors out as possible. It is always a really good show.

It is on SUNDAY August 9th this year -- same location.

Judge Is MARVIN McCABE from Ohio -- he is head judge for AMHR -- puts on the judges clinics etc.

He is also a pony man so knows both his ponies as well as the minis. However, this is an AMHR only show -- no pony classes.

Hope to see you there.
