We have three kids at home that are currently being homeschooled. They are
ages 15, 12, and 9. We have had two older siblings graduate through the public
system here and that was a joke. When they tried to code my daughter Kim [ who
is now 15] in kindergarten that was the last straw. They tried to tell my she had
dslexiya which she most certainly does not! I feel they get a better education at
their own pace. As for activities they go to nationals, take Taekwondo, riding
lessons etc. Because we are both farriers they also travel with us every day too.
Every state has different rules and guidelines. Ours is pretty easy, you write a
letter of intent, file a scope and sequence, and at the end of the year either do
a portfolio of work, have the school test them [NO WAY} or have a certified
teacher come in to assess them which is what we do. All these steps have to be
done by certain dates. My husband is awesome at this he is the more organized
and he had calculus in college. He can't spell to save his life though so that's my
job along with art. Linda B
