Hello all,

Still new and trying to learn all I can. Could someone tell me some of the signs of homozygous?

I know that color testing is the only accurate way to know for sure. Will homozygous always have pawprints etc.?

Debbie

It is my understanding that ----

Not all homozygous tobiano pintos have paw prints. Not all pintos that have paw prints are homozygous for tobiano.

Lab testing is the only accurate way to know for certain whether or not a horse is homozygous for tobiano pinto.

Correct there is no way to look at a horse and tell they are homozygous. The only way is to lab test or if they are out of two known homozygous parents.
