Our weekly paper has an article today about a dump site of dead animals that was found over the weekend. About 250 animals, mostly cats and dogs, have been dumped in the woods at the end of a road in a subdivision. Some of the dogs still had collars on, one even still had a leash attached. Cats still had flea collars on. Some animals had IV lines attached. The article says that they feel these animals came from out of state, but don't say why. Did some of them have ID tags attached?? Raccoons, mice, rats and deer were also found at the dump site.

You can read the entire article here: http://www.hampshirereview.com/stories/frontstory1.htm. Warning: the picture is graphic!!

This is horrendous and so sad!! How can anyone do this?? Was it a lab that dumped them as some are speculating?? I hope they find whomever did this and deal with them severely!!!!

I won't go to the link. I'm already feeling like I have to puke. But yes, these things go on everywhere.

Over the weekend, Dan went 4 wheeling up a mountain and saw where a number of cows and dogs had been thrown over the cliffs. He was sick to his stomach and couldn't have any dinner.

When reading your post I immediately thought "research lab leftovers."

Sick, sick, sick!!!

The first thing I thought of when I saw they had published a picture was, oh my gosh, what if someone saw their dog or cat in that horrible pile?? I don't know if you remember, but my JRT Gower ran away on 5/14/05. I searched that subdivision's roads after someone reported seeing him on a main road nearby in July. It's a subdivision that isn't very developed yet and is mostly still woods. The time I was searching for Gower was the first time I had ever been up in there. It gave me the creeps because really it was just a tangle of gravel roads leading through deep woods with very few houses. It would have killed me if I had seen Gower's picture in that pile.

I'm afraid I agree with Envypoodles assessment...... I pray they find out the answer....

I thought something along those lines as well. About six months to a year ago there was a huge thing in my area of pets going missing, and they were never found. Our dog was included in the list of missing pets. They had a town meeting about it, and the pets were never found.

I just saw on a Washington, DC news show that they've discovered that the animals were euthanized at Fairfax County's Animal Shelter (in Northern VA). The shelter contracted with another company who was supposed to cremate the remains. An investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are possible. They traced the animals through tags that were still on them.

sorry ivpoines do you mean in your last post that they were put down because they were sick, or unadoptable?

this is so sad that they would just dump them there.
