I think most of you know by now we have a new filly. Well, we also have a new stray puppy. She has a burn on her back, from who knows what, and I thought, well, we will see how this pup is with the horses. I am not going through what I did last year.
So, we took this pup in, and gave her a home, vaccinated her, and we love her. I have had her with the horses, since we found her, about 5 days ago. Her name is Flower by the way.
Well , this foal was born this morning, and if you look in the previous post, she was eating the afterbirth ( again I say YUK). Anywho., This foal has had trouble through the day nursing, and the vet came and looked at her. Seems she got an infection in utero, and came out with conjunctivitis and gooey eyes. She is not nursing well because her eyes hurt.
So, for my um-teenth time today, I truck through the mud to get to the barn. And this is what I saw.
It seems in this pup, it is instict to care for the horses. I told Carlene multiple times today, you know that Flower has not left Doodlebug all day. I am amazed at this. She is less than 3 months old, and already has this powerful instinct. She seems to know this one needs special care. Of course Doodlebug thinks she is a dog now, LOL
