I had ponies and horses literally from the time I was born until I got married when I was 27. I sold my last Quarter Horse then. It took me 14 years to get another horse, but boy did we jump in to it then. My husband was born and grew up in the heart of horse country, Lexington, Kentucky!!!! So his theory was it was no big deal about horses, he saw them all the time. Never was around them though. We started back with QH for my son and I to ride and show. After a couple years I looked at the minis because I thought my husband needed a horse of his own and he refused to ride a big horse. That's when I bought our first two minis. They were bought on our Wedding Anniversary and delivered by my son and I to hubby at work complete with bows on their halters. That was the start of a total love affair. Don't bad mouth his babies or lord forbid that he thought someone or something was going to hurt them. He now shows them with us, takes care of them and does anything that needs to be done around here. He will tell anybody that will listen to him about the kids and that he wouldn't take anything for them. I knew I had him really won over two years ago on our anniversary when he went and rescued a mini donkey (Bucky)and brought him home for me as my anniversary present. Couldn't have gotten me anything I liked better.
