How many are doing performance this year

We have a new club that is one year old here on the east coast. In talking to a lot of

our members we are finding that a lot of people that have only shown halter in the

past are showing in driving , obstacle , and jumping classes this year. They are finding out

that halter is fun and performance is funner. I was just wondering if this is a trend all over

the country or just here on the east coast. PLease visit our web page.

I like performance better. I am starting to drive my gelding and show him this year. He already jumps and I want to do obstacle as well. My mare starts jumping this year as well as obstacle. When my youngest gelding is old enough he'll do the same. I live in Florida. Good luck with the show.

I am not sure I count since I have done one performance (Country Pleasure) class other than a couple of Liberty attempts.

I am going to see if Mouse and I can take on a few Hunter classes this year, though, and hoping to get him in driving training so we can tackle that, too.

I do love showing at halter though I have two jr. horses for that.

We're considering it. We took a few horses to a clinic on performance the other day, and my kids are finally interested in the obstacle and jumping classes. So if we can stick to working them in this weather - we'll give it a go!

This will be my first year showing my own horses in any division. I have a wonderful trainer, Jim Frazier, of Blue Blazes Miniatures, who just happens to also be the president of the East Coast Miniature Horse Club.

He has had to teach me EVERYTHING about jumping and obstacles in only a few short months. I may look like I'm trying to do a comedy routine at Camden,S.C., in April but if nothing else I will be having fun.

I have been getting interested in performance because all i hear from Justine(Jitterbug) is about jumping and performance stuff. I jumped one of her horses at a show and ever since then i have been interested in training a horse for that stuff. I watch Jim have a blast at the performance stuff. I think i will always be better at the halter thing but i might end up giving the performance thing a shot too. It is a lot funner than i would have ever thought. Especially when you jump a horse like Sting, right Justine. Aubrey

I think that performance classes are becoming very popular. The number of horses in the Hunter and Jumper classes at both Worlds and Nationals was unreal. There were over 40 horses in Youth and Open Hunter at Worlds and more than 50 Horses in the Open and Youth Hunter at AMHR Nationals. Personally, we will have more Hunter/Jumper horses this year than we have ever had before. I cannot wait for show season to begin! I enjoy the Hunter and Jumper and I think that the numbers in the classes will just keep going up and up.
