I am curious as to how many horses you have at a trainer and what you pay?

This is only for training fees, no extras such as show expense, farrier work, etc.

Just training.

The number of horses is the number of horses you have with a trainer during any one month, and the closest fee listed.

Thanks for participating.

I'm not sure if it can be editted or if you'd even want to, but I think most (or many?) trainers charge one thing for halter training, and then another for driving or performance training.

Bruce charges 250 for halter and 350 for driving. I picked 1 horse under 300.

Our trainers in the past charged us differently per month. First it depends WHAT the horse is being trained for -- halter, driving, etc..... Then once the horse is actually going to shows the cost goes up as well.

I've never used a trainer...so in response to how much do I pay my trainer...well, I don't pay myself enough.

We have both big and small horses, but most of our show horses are full size now. We used to show several minis, but now only have one out as the costs are so high. We actually pay more (in the end) to show minis, than full size horses. My Tennessee Walking horse trainer ( who has 4 on full training at 450 per month, plus haul bill, and entries, and one on halves right now -which doesnt cost me anything, but what he sells , we split) ends up costing less , per horse, than the one mini we have out.

Seems like mini shows ( at least amha shows) cost so much, and so many more miles to travel, that it ends up costing a great deal more to show a mini. Our base rate on a mini, is 400.00 , but by the time you pay , cents per mile, entries, shaving, stall fees, (show preparation fees, which I have NEVER understood) it is much more than the 450 + for a big horse.

I wish I were more driven, I would attempt to do it myself, but the few times I did, I wasnt pleased with my job, so I decided to leave it to professionals. They surely do earn their monies.
