LOL... having animals sure makes life interesting!
If the mouse runs/holes are dry, you have dry weather. You can use, plain, Dried Potato flakes. Pour, 1/2 cup down each hole.
Mice will eat tons of these and then die. Works really well in dry weather and in dry areas. Will not work if the area is wet.
Basically, the dry potatoes puff up in the mouse and then you have mouse and mash potatoes.
So if you have cats and chickens eating the mice at times, it will be safe.
I did not believe it years ago, but have used it many times since, and it works.
In wet areas, I use bait stations. Mice tend to eat and go die in their holes.
