Oh my goodness, Rob. I'm so sorry you had to get something like that. The least they could have done was upfront write you a questioning letter about why you did it, and be upfront enough to give you responding information. Geesh.

Rob...

You did a GREAT job.. :aktion033: don't let the small minded people get to you! It is HER problem, not yours NOR the rest of us... let her have her narrow minded moment and let it go, the column was fine and you did a super job with what was provided to you..

I have a sign in my Tack Shop that reads "The more I know people, the better I like my Horses" I'm learning sometimes the hard way, not to let a "few" of the bad ones get yah down. Just feel bad for them!

I have not read the article yet......but I will go ahead and say good job :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033: You volunteer your time and energy. Do people not appreciate that?????

I don't think people really have any idea how long in advance things have to be submitted to the Journal and to the World before the actual publication is in the hands of the readers. You have to write about what is going on at the moment.....not things that have not happened yet.

Kudos to you for your volunteer work and shame on the person that sent you the letter. Someone needs more information and a smack on the hinney!!!! :new_shocked:

Hey Rob,

Now that you have our attention...

This may already be listed somewhere in the Journal (I haven't received a Journal for awhile so I don't know), but since people need to be proactive and get you information (and since they can be so dense as to lead time) how about adding to the bottom of your column the deadline for the upcoming issue? If you have additional room, you might even have a blurb about the sort of info you are looking for. I bet there are a lot of people who simply don't know that they are welcome to submit their news or when to do it.

Not Rob but having done a club column for several years I can say that this probably would not work. Sometimes the Journal is just being published or received when the deadline for the next issue is at hand. For example the deadline for August was June 15th and the Journal was just being mailed around that time. Even if Rob had the next deadline in his column many readers would not have received their Journal before that deadline had passed.

Yes, monthly and bi-monthly publications have deadlines quite in advance, and editorial content typically has even earlier deadlines than advertising.

What might be best would be to post the deadline for the particular issue...i.e., Feb 1 for the April issue, or whatever the particular deadline would be.
