Good idea! He'll make an awesome gelding for whatever he's asked to do. We just gelded our pinto KO Punch and he's going to an awesome new home where he'll have his own kids to love and adore him...along with one of our Dandy daughters. I like that they can socialize with others and enjoy lot more things as a gelding. You go girl!!!

Good for you and him!!! I bet you'll love him even more as a gelding. I've never regretted having it done to any of my guys and one of my first "orders of business" with my new horses from Erica will be to have my golden palomino BTU son "join the club". He's pictured below and will be just one more awesome stallion / colt gelded under my ownership.

This is Blue. As a yearling stallion this year he had many a Jr. Stallion Grands.

So can't wait to see how well he does as a gelding!!!!!!!!!!

Good choice Lisa!

Also, I just wanted to say that it's great to see these kinds of threads more and more often. I think it's a reflection that people are recognizing a mini horse does not need to produce foals in order to be very worth owning and in my opinion, there is no sadness or waste in gelding even top notch stallions.

WooHoo! He'll have lots of fun as a CDE gelding!

If it were not for Erica, you and I would be tied. Sunny (Tibb's Sundowner) is my #6 mini gelding, and "Pal" will be #7. I love the boys, and only need / can use so many stallions, so geldings are a great fit. Not that I don't also love my girls

oh oh oh! Me too!

I will be joining once my colt gets his jewels!

Many top farms are now gelding some of there best colts. They are smart, knowing these top geldings are winning "big" in the show ring and getting there name out there. They can be shown by youth, thereby showing in many more classes.

One of the most competitive and exciting classes at the Worlds are the gelding classes and keep getting better each year.

Some food for thought........

I just counted 23 AMHA registered geldings we currently own. Plus two more unregistered. And 2 Quarter Horse and 1 Appy geldings. I think we win!

Well I already have 3 but will soon be adding another gelding to my show string and I couldn't be any more excited. I love my geldings~ Thank you Laura for my favorite boy, he is truly one the best horses I've ever had the pleasure to own.

WOW...you guys have some fantastic geldings. I am excited about Binks being a gelding...I think he will be happier being out with everyone...its a good life ---a geldings

I have just started driving him this week...he had some big obstacles to get past...but, a good driving horse takes A LOT of time...no rush job here.

My best buddy and I are hitting the trails this week...packing a picnic and, going out for the day...I can't wait

And, I think Binks will LOVE it...its so pretty here this time of year

Hey Lis,

CDE is for me as well. I am looking at Inti being a great CDE horse. Will see you this week on the trails. Looks like hot chocolate will be in order at Sugarcreek. I find that these guys like to do so much more than show. I love hitting the trails with them. Most of the horse trails are doable and we all have great fun. Lunch on the trails is a great treat. See you there girlfriend!!!!!

From this post it definitely looks like alot of farms are gelding some very nice horses.

Just before we left to go to the World Show we gelded James (Andi) colt, RHA Wardance Fluffington Stuffypants. Unless he sells him before that, he will be shown as a yearling next year. He did well showing as a stallion this year and we hope he continues his winning ways.

It would be good to see more geldings out at the shows next year. We did mention to one of the area director's about coming up with a way to get more weanling gelding showing at the World show. There was only 1 weanling out of a class of about 19 weanling/yearling geldings showing.

I love geldings love, love, love them. I also have 5 right now. And if my yearling stallion doesn't sell soon he may be number 6. He would make a wonderful under 30 gelding.

This is Blue Ribbon Bodacious Shiney Gold - 2004 Res. World Champion weanling stallion 26 - 30. Now a yearling gelding.

K-Nells Spin To Win - 2004 World Champion yearling futurity geldling.

Lucky Four Black Velvet Bandofire - Placed 3rd in both AMHR Nationals and AMHA World in Amateur Geldings and placed in both shows in open first year out.

And last but not least

Lucky Four Hits The Spot - 2002 AMHR National Champion 2 yr old gelding

We have a really sweet B show gelding, "Frankie":

but are doing the "perfect horse" search for a 32-33" at least AMHR reg gelding (prefer futurity) to be our all around show guy for next yr!! Heather is hoping for something "loud"....
