Congratulations, Susanne!!!!!!! I'll never forget how it felt the first time I drove one I trained. It's a rush like no other and such a good reason to be so proud! Way to go!!!!!!

This is such a wonderful thread! Your complete love and adoration for Mingus has always been evident but now you two have bonded in a way folks like me can't possinly know and are a bit envious of. Congratulations to all of you...pics please next time!

That is just wonderful Susanne!! :aktion033: :aktion033: :aktion033: :risa8: :488: Isn't driving fun!!

So what kind of cart do you have?

Can't wait for pictures and remember if you need a place to drive I am here!!

Hubby started working on the cart path yesterday and if it doesn't rain next weekend, it might be driveable after that!

What wonderful news! I am so sorry that you didn't get photos of "your first time!" Well I am sure there are many more to come to document his progress. We are sure getting a great driving gang up here! :D :aktion033:

CONGRATULATIONS!!! :risa8: :risa8: :risa8: How wonderful!!! It's just so exciting that first drive with a horse that you have put your heart and soul into training!!! I drove a couple of mine that I've been training and when I came in to email Angie about it I was so proud that I was making up words! One of them was proudness.... I can feel your proudness coming right through the computer

....looking forward to driving with you (for reals!) on the beach someday...in the not too distant future.

Liz
You know Liz, I just realized that with Mingus being a good four inches taller than any of our other beach steeds and having a trot to match, we may have trouble keeping up! :new_shocked: I can just see Kody galloping determinedly and Mingus with his ears pinned back at a road trot, battling for the lead.

I'll have to come down there sometime this winter and do a group driving lesson day for Susanne and Mingus, Liz and Mouse, and Daryl and Dancer. What fun that would be! :aktion033: ETA: And of course I'd bring my camera!

Well, of course I want to say congratulations to you both...but....no photos???? Are you serious??? Haven't seen a Mingus photo in quite a while, and you know how much I love your horse! Hope you can take some pix and post them in the near future! yes yes

Liz R.

Thank you all SO MUCH!!

A huge part of our excitement has been sharing it all with my online family!

Leia, you've envisioned exactly what Mingus will do, since it's what he does when he runs with his buddies here at home. We ran Mingus, Thelonius and Scarlet, and while Scarlet has the legs to keep up with the big man, little Thelonius had to race at a full gallop to keep up with their trots.

Shari, it would be wonderful to bring him up to drive your trail with you. For the time being, we're borrowing Marie's (Shortpig's) pony cart, which fits him well, but is a bit of a challenge to get into and out of quickly. We're refurbishing a metal easy entry cart that we're buying from Liz, but I need to order longer shafts.

Mingus will have to swallow his pride when we post photos, since we're using a rather ugly, though very servicable, training harness until we can get something nice.

I promise to get photos!

Nothing like that feeling, whether it's driving or climbing up in the saddle for the first time with a horse you've started from scratch.

Here's to years of enjoyment with him!

I'm soooo proud of you and Mingus. Glad you are able to use that cart with

him. All is well in Scappoosie! So maybe one of these days I will come up and watch you drive and sit

back and enjoy. Ariel is soooo Happy to be home again. She is glued to Jasmine's side. Duckie is a little

jealous having her back home. Oh the sounds that make us happy, like hearing the chain rattling on the

gate. You know what I mean.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO YOU AND MINGUS

How appropriate!!!

I've been looking forward to seeing him drive for awhile!

That took some real Cojones to go do that!

I can't wait to see him in action... and I volunteer my amateurish photography if you are interested!

Daryl

Thanks again, everyone! You know, Kim, I think you were my very first driving mentor here on the forum...

Ah, Marie...nothing like the sound of your Horsey Houdini trying to make a jail break!

Daryl, that would be fantastic to have you take some photos. I'll even ppvide coffee and bagels. Marie -- the more the merrier!

Keith and I now have inspiration to expand our corral/work space. It's now 70 x 70, and we plan to make it about 70 x 120, which should be large enough for basic driving...at least when the weather is decent.
