My sister called me on Wednesday and said she had picked a puppy up who was laying/resting in the road (a fairly heavily used county road). She said she couldn't just leave her laying there so she picked her up and went to the nearby houses to see if she belonged there. No luck. She took her home and her dogs (one quite old and nearly blind) just didn't adjust to the active puppy at all and DH would be very upset with her over bringing it home. I told her she could bring her here until we found her owner. She's been with me for about 36 hours now and Duke (the resident German Shepard puppy sitter) is great with her but my Sunny isn't at all happy about it.

She's quite a good little one....stays in her crate at night with no complaint, hasn't offered to try to chew anything she shouldn't, adjusted to the pet door very quickly (although it took her longer to figure out she could go outside as well as come in), she's learning to sit and what "no" means.

We think she's an Irish Setter; about 3 or 4 months old. If anyone is familiar with Irish Setters I'd welcome your opinion.

She's so active it's almost impossible to get pictures of her but finally had a bit of luck this morning.

Soooo.....meet Jodie (my Foster kid).

Must admit (although we've put fliers out and newspaper ads) I have mixed emotions about someone claiming her. If they don't and IF Sunny finally decides to be hospitable I'm thinking she has a home with us.

She is ADORABLE!! I hope she works out so you can keep her.. She looks very sweet!

I'd have to agree Mona.........

Looks to me like part Cavalier King Charles Spaniel ............ they do come in a pretty Ruby color like that.

I LOVE my Cavalier!

She has pretty long legs and has started "feathering" on her tail and the back of her legs. Is this common for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels? The only spaniel I've ever had any experience with was a Cocker. O'course it's very possible that she's a Heinz 57 variety.....but cute, sweet and smart nontheless.

She is beautiful whatever she is. But yes the feathering occurs on Cavaliers. She might also be older than you think since she seems to have a good bit of feathering already and if part Cavalier, she would be a small dog.

Thank you all for your nice replies. My sister called a while ago and said DH decided to put a sign up along the road where she was found. I told her to tell him to QUIT TRYING TO GIVE MY DOG AWAY!! LOL Although it's now been over 48 hours and Sunny still isn't happy. Hopefully tomorrow will be better (she says again).

She's absolutely precious! I'm glad she ended up in your home (even if it's not permanent). I hate to think of that poor love by the side of the road.

Not only is she a cutie I think she's probably the smartest pup I've ever seen. It took me about 15 minutes yesterday to teach her to sit and about 10 this morning to teach her to lay down. Still no sign of acceptance from Sunny though. (sigh)
