Oh yes =) Even if he is grey he is gorgeous! I love his looks and his movement and if he produces 500 grey babies I don't care...of course I definately do not intend to have near that many foals, ever, lol!! You know what I mean!

im sorry didnt mean to upset anyone. just been my experience with appys. the appy mare posted is a snowflake appy which does put white in the mane. I have a snowflake and her daughter was also a snowflake but they didnt turn color until they were well over a year. its just been my exp that roaning appys gradually roan out and start in the flanks but for sure i could be WRONG no doubt about it. I was going by the fact that his mane went from grey to white so fast and totally obliterated his white face marking so quickly. I reasearched so many appy bloodlines when i first got in minis and found so many greys incorrectly marked on their papers that it wasnt even funny. And of course without seeing his sire and dam i could be way off. And if you love him it doesnt matter. Im just fascinated by color genetics.

I am also a member of the Appaloosa Project forum and I carefully followed the thread about your little horse. I think Sheila was basing her opinion of this beautiful little horse as not being Gray on the appearance of his parents. Neither appeared to be gray to me either. Both parents are absolutely gorgeous. Your little snowcap is equally as beautiful. Congratulations.

Wow! i didn't know we had so many Appaloosa Project members on here!!

Thanks everyone, it means a lot that you are all so supportive! I can't wait to post more photo's =)

There are photo's of his dam and sire on my website http://minihoofbeatsminis.tripod.com click on Chase's page and then click the link for photo's of his pedigree.

Sue--the Appaloosa Project is a Yahoo group forum--I don't have the link right handy but if you go to the yahoo groups & do a search for Appaloosa it is sure to come up. I'm a member but haven't had much time lately & have been deleting more of the e-mails than I read, and if the photos are in an album & not attached to the e-mail then I never get around to hunting them up at all. :bgrin

The Appaloosa Project is an electronic classroom forum (no chit chats, thank you only's etc) and definately open to Canadians. Sheila Archer is in Canada and heads the group. There are members from all over the world. They are in the process of discovering the location of the LP (appaloosa) gene location and some of us (miniatures) have provided appaloosa dna for testing purposes..here is the location..if you are an appy lover or genetics lover this is a great forum..very technical but Sheila is great for explaning and the archives of messages are phenomenal.

Thank you!! =) I can't believe the response I am receiving on this colt, 4 pages already!!!! I am overwhelmed with excitement to bring him home!

Congrats!!! Yes he is a silver dapple. Not a huge color contrast as compared to another color but it is definitely a snowcap blanket. I had one born just like that. He actually developed darker 'varnish marks' on his face and all as he got older. When freshly clipped though, it was hard to see his blanket.

Glad you found what you were looking for -sometimes it's hard!!!

You're telling me! It seems every filly I have my eye on lately gets snatched up, like your filly that was sold to Lost Spoke (great people by the way!) I mean, bummer for me huh!! She would have been perfect to be the solid, appy bred filly to put with this colt and see what he makes....

Keep me in mind when you start getting foals this spring!! Let me know if you get any loud or arabian featured fillies =)
