I was wondering how your pup is doing. For those that don't remember, he was a huge abandoned puppy that was taken in temporarily, then, from what I remembered, it was decided that he was staying put right where he was

Would love to hear an update.....

Thank you for asking Carolyn. My Andre the giant is doing great! The 10th will make a year that we've had him, and he is such a good boy. You're right, he was supposed to be 'temporary' because we believed he was a pit bull and I wasn't comfortable with owning one. But he weaseled his way into our hearts and he claimed us as his forever home.

He grew out of that stocky look, and is now a tall dangly 90+ pound baby. He is actually underweight at the moment because my husband has gotten the dogs so spoiled with nightly moist dinners, that they want to be picky when it comes to eating their dry food. Not to mention, he is beyond active.

This pic was taken a couple of months ago when he weighed a bit more then what he does now.

And my favorite pic of him...

Anyone have any ideas on what breed he may be mixed with?

He is too cute and I love that last picture! To me he almost looks like he may be part Mastiff (the body really fits)-mixed with a smaller, leaner breed.

My vet saw Mastiff in him when he was a puppy. So we think he may be a mastiff/pit mix. He has the sweetest personality though, and believe me, we've tested him. He has been having issues with ear mites recently, and because of his size, it takes boths my husband and me to pin him down for treatments. He HATES it and struggles nonstop. I'm thinking we'll just have to take him into the vet's office and have them give him a shot to kill off the mites. It would be less stressfull for all of us. Besides that, his only downfall is that he loves to chew on things he shouldnt (the house, hose, trees).

I was just thinking about him! I had someone abandon a dog here Friday(we think there may have been 2) and your Andre crossed my mind! He looks great!

Are you guys gonna keep him? We have four dogs that were abandoned/lost/running loose. In my experience, it's the 'uncared for' that end up loving you the most.

I too have been wondering about him at times, and thought you must have given him up since we had not gotten any updates and that you weren't sure about having him. I am so glad to see you decided on keeping him. He is unique indeed, and BEAUTIFUL! I no longer see pitbull in him at all. When I look intot hat face, I really see the expression that our Great Dane, "Clyde" had, so wondering if he may be part Dane too! BEAUTIFUL!

No, I couldn't. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats in the house. She was a coon hound, young under a year and just the sweetest thing. Believe me if my house was not full to the max I would love to have given her a home. She had the sweetest eyes. The other dog we think was dropped with her, unfortunately got hit. That one was a huge 80-90 lb pit bull. Sure does make me mad that people can treat these guys like garbage and just throw them away. Unfortunately it was not the first and I'm sure it will not be the last....

Well he is beautiful, whatever he is! I was thinking he looked like a mastiff x lab cross. I don't see pitt either and think he would be much bigger boned if he were, but i'm not very good with the mixes. He looks like a sweetie and I'm glad he has such a great home
