We have tried two times before to get Katie pregnant...to no avail. We were about to give up and then took her to the vet towards the end of her last heat. She said get her bred today! Not tomorrow! Her hormone levels were perfect. Got her bred. Kinda thought, meh, probably she didn't take again. Then at around 4 weeks along, she was plump and her teats were getting engorged

On Canada Day and my dad's birthday (July 1st) Katie gave us 6 gorgeous pups!!!! She's an awesome mom, and I couldn't be more proud of her

Thanks Kathryn. Where was this puppy from that you were going to get? I know two really great breeders within an hour and half from me (but only one shows extensively).

Thanks Mary Lou

They are BIG sucks...and great around all animals (love my barn cat). But they are great watch dogs, too.

Matt,

It is actually someone that lives very close to me (basically my neighbour...well, 5 mins away LOL). They are related to the lines of my herding coach's dogs-who hasn't been as extensively showing in the past 5-10 years, but was a very well known breeder when she was big into breeding (has been breeding Bernese for 30 years)...and put the first herding title on a Berner, I believe!

Several of her dogs had Best in Shows! Kennel name is Maitland.

It was fun playing with the puppies and evaluating a different breed! Lots of things to learn, and as very different as they are from the Cardigans, it is still the same basics!!

Enjoy the pups....still waiting for a girl to come into season here, and HOPING to FINALLY have pups again myself... 0 for 3 in the past 6 months!

I cant imagine life with out my favorite German Shepherd but there is something about those Berners that I just love. I just dont know how well they would do in the Florida weather, although I go to alot of dog shows and see them often. Please post pictures of the pups when you get time.....oh and happy belated BDay to your dad

Thanks everyone

No, they don't like the heat; my girls are trying to stay cool and out of the sun in this weather. But their coats aren't too thick, like some Berners I've seen; they actually do shed out their undercoat for the summer.

I'll be sure to get pics ASAP
