Alrighty...we have one barn kitty. I have no clue her age just that she was dumped here last year as a little baby. She is a sweet thing and LOVES the dogs and the minis. Well I CAUGHT her with the BIG BLACK TOM

that lives on the other side of the tracks

so now I guess we may have little kittys. I need to know what the gestation is on cats cause I haven't a clue. I don't mind kittens as we can always use a spare barn kitty out here in the boonies

Well about like a dog then. I didn't know as we have never had kittys. At least the weather will be warmer...Thx

Yep......63 days average...... I will say, though......I would highly recommend that you have your sweet little momma kitty spade as soon as she has those kittens. Yes, the vet can do it while she is nursing. Otherwise, she will get pregnant AGAIN before her kittens are even weaned.......

If you DO NOT spay her you will discover two things:

1. You will be very rapidly overrun by cats who will be interbreeding, plus they will attract even more cats.

2. Your sweet little momma cat will die at a very young age.

I would second MA's suggestion to get her spayed, only I would suggest doing it now, if she has only just been bred. Vets won't spay a cat that is far along in pregnancy, or if they will they charge a lot extra to do it, but if she's just been bred you could still have it done right away. If she has the kittens then you'll quite likely have more females, and you WILL be overrun with cats very soon. It's much cheaper to spay mama cat now than to have to spay and neuter several kittens as well!

If you want an extra cat or two, there are always kittens available. Get another kitten, get it neutered or spayed, and then you'll have two nice cats that won't multiply!

I already had planned on spaying her. We do not have cats last long around here (coyotes) I had tried to adopt some kittys that were spayed but was told I did not qualify because they would be outside mousers?

and not inside kittys. I have allergys so cannot keep a cat indoors but no problem with outside cats.

There are too many kitties in this world, and it is irresponsible to bring more!

I would suggest spaying her ASAP before she has kittens!!! It can be done at any time! It will be healthiest for her and reduce the cat overpopulation...

Called the vet today and I take her in on Tuesday for her spaying.

He could not get her in any sooner and I had locked her up but she escaped and is now hiding. Hoping that with the weather changing she will come back to the barn

Someone dumped a little dog today down at the corner (hubby saw them throw it out the window

) He will not last long out here he disappeared into the woods. I wish people would just take them to the Humane Society instead of dumping them out here.

Wouldn't have a barn without a few cats! We had two of our female barn cats spayed...they are gone now(I suspect coyotes) we now only have one female left and I am not spaying her and hoping for kitties in the spring.

This same mother to be cat had a rat yes I said rat that she caught out in the barn, I freaked! Since having barn kitties I no longer find mouse droppings anywhere or see them in my barn and have never had a mouse in our house. So it is up to you but I agree there are far too many cats in the world but one has got to do what one has got to do!

She is a sweet kitty. The last one was a male and he disappeared a month after I had him neutered. Bobcat or coyote I am sure got him. You can only do so much when your place becomes a dumping ground for unwanted pets. Three of my four dogs are rescues. I will try to catch the dog tomorrow that was dumped John said he was probably a little min pin? or mix. Speaking of rats

my lttle Aussie is my rat dog. He likes to bring them to u as a gift!

Dumping animals like is disgusting..... Too bad no one saw the car license plate. They can be arrested for that.

I do hope you find the little dog....... Take food with you. It's probably hungry and the smell of food may override its fear.

I wouldn't do with out my barn kitties. All but one of my cats are spayed or nutered. The one that isn't is not a barn kitty. She is now 10 years old and has never had a litter. Not that we didn't try. I spent $1,500 on her. She hated my male and just would never breed. He also didn't like her and wouldn't even try to breed her. She is fine the way she is. She never will have a litter. All of the other cats are in the house and in the barn. We do not have mice either place.

All of the barn kitties are from 2 mommas and what we didn't place we spayed or nutered and kept them. I think we have 8 barn cats.

Good for you to make a vet appointment!

I hope you find that little dog... I will never understand how some people are so terrible to dump animals... how cruel...

We have had recent problems with dumping also. Someone dumped a beautiful older golden retriever, I could tell she was older by the gray around her muzzle. I tried to get her to come to me but she wouldn't and after two days I didn't see her anymore. And cats well sometimes I think we have a flashing neon sign "unwanted cats welcome". It just makes me so mad at people and their lack of caring.

The little dog was out at our gate but ran when I went out there

I am afraid to put food out cause tht draws in the coyotes. I am going to try to catch him this w/e Wish me luck

I so hope you catch the little dog - it is so sad when people just dump their animals off to fend for themselves. Poor little thing - has to be scared to death.

Carry the food WITH you! I bet he'll get hungry enough that he'll come to you. He obviously knows you're a place that may offer something. Good luck!

Well the neighbors nx to us 20acres away I should say have the little dog now (I named him LD) they are feeding him and he is going in a shed at night at their place. I think he will be fine. Our neighbor has cancer and maybe this is a blessing in disquise as he lost his dog a year ago to coyotes. I think the reason he was afraid to come to me is because of our dogs? Anyway I know he is at least being fed and maybe they will get him in their house soon? I told them to call if they wanted any help with him. Ms Kitty was last seen down at the other neighbors barn and has not come back since her escape they are almost 3/4 of a mile away. John thinks it was her he saw and stopped and asked if they would keep an eye out in their big barn for her

Thanks for the update........I was thinking of that little dog yesterday and hoping something good was happening.

I'm sure your kitty will come back.
