Well, last night one of our "night watchmen" shot one dog of three that showed up. The first that we have seen since we lost the stock (two llamas and two goats) nine days ago. Our neighbor said that he shot two black dogs Friday night, so maybe we have lessened the pack from eight to five, IF these were actually part of the culprits. One of the TV stations did a story Sunday and have had offers from a couple of military trained snipers, if we can get the dogs to make an appearance, they will be dead if they come on the right shift.

Over and out, for now.

Thanks for the update, Tony. I have been obsessing on this ever since you posted it. Traveller is a favorite of mine. I am so sorry for the horror you and your horses have been through.

I wish you luck!

Thanks for the update Tony. I sure hope one by one you get all the pack dogs, and then you will be able to rest just a little easier. Corinne

I hope this works. I hate to see anything die but this has to happen! And maybe, hopefully a concerted effort can be made for other farms in the future to do the same when these threats come along.

To those who let their dogs run, beware! You are NOT doing them a favor! I can promise you if any were to enter my domain in a threatening manner it's dead!

We had one come all the way across the lake on the ice to "visit" our horses twice this Winter..very friendly , gray muzzle and big yellow Lab..but no business being here and way too interested. We sent him on his way and watched with binoculars to see where he exitd the frozen lake and tried to pinpoint which house..no luck so we did post in lake newsletter ..

announcing to be ware as dogs have been known to go through the ice in the Spring.

Hope they get the word their dog is wandering..some people just don't know or care! And in this case he seems to be nice...for for now

Post "found dog" posters describing those that you've taken care of all over the area - also look for collars and shot tags. Vic

How is Traveller doing? I've been thinking about him after seeing those pics you posted. I hope he is healing and doing better.

What wonderful news! :aktion033: I think things are starting to look up now! Thanks for the update.

Just wondering...think dog carcasses placed around the pasture fencing be a deterrent?

Keep the powder dry, Tony.

Never thought I would hear myself cheering over some dead dogs but WAY TO GO TONY!!! I think the suggestion of posting all around your area about found dogs with a description of the dead ones is a great one! You just might find some of the owners!

:aktion033: :aktion033: VERY glad to hear this news... and very glad to hear about the snipers, too...

Best of luck going forward... and hope that your stallion is recovering well....

The large gash on Travellers jaw is doing well, has shrunk to about half the size it was. The apron area between his back legs is still a mess, in fact they videoed it for the TV coverage. It is shrinking a little bit, but think that it will be months before it closes. The eye has not changed much but we continue to treat it in hopes of it coming back, but it is doubtful. His ears are healing and most of the swelling has gone down.
