I was just wondering about the prices of the horses at the sale. How are the prices? What do they normally go for?

I doubt I'd be able to go... but I might if I could get a nice boy for a bargain!

last time i was there i saw colts go from 800-50,000.00

so yes they normally have horses in every price range.

I think fran, kyle and i are going would love to meet you!

I would like to go just to check everything out agian, not to buy though lol.

I think they posted the prices on the heritage sale site, that could give you an idea of what the average prices are. I looked at 05's results and there were horses un the under $1,500 area that were just as nice as the $15,000 horses.

So is this a regular auction or is it a silent auction? I went to the Heirtage sale and the silent auction prices were unbelievable!! If I remember the lowest was like $200 on up to $2000 maybe. The colts in that were just as nice as the colts in the regular auction!! They also had 3-1 in the silent auction to!! Great deals

Hi,

I thought I would post some more information on Oktoberfest at Little King Farm Oct 21st, which is next saturday. I know this is a new concept and everyone is wondering what the format will be, so here is more information.

This will be a Silent Auction format sale. Over 140 head of Miniature Horses; AMHA, AMHR, and Shetlands WILL SELL.

The horses will sell in Silent Auction format 12 lots at a time in 30 min intervals. This will give each person an opportunity to look over all the horses early on and then keep up with the lots they are interested in bidding on. We think it will be helpful for people to not feel the big pressure of a fast auction and not understanding the auctioneer at times and where / who has the bid. We want you to feel comfortable and be able to keep up with what price each horse is at and with the 12 lot increments it should give each person time to focus and move on to the next group. We are also trying to divide up the bred mares, fillies, colts, stallions & geldings.

This is ONE DAY ONLY, prices will be 50 - 75% off regular prices, again it is FOR THIS ONE DAY ONLY!

ALL HORSES WILL SELL
ALSO, farm equipment, golf carts, gators, miniature horse equipment, ultrasounds, antique sleigh & carts, mower, office equipment, furniture, carts, harnesses, breeding stocks, refrigerators, etc.

hey..if you go... you HAVE to take me too ;)
I know-- wouldn't think of going without you! lol

I was actually thinking of buying a really nice colt and maybe going in with someone from around here. Right now we have the space...

Or a bred mare would be cool and maybe I'd get an awesome future herd sire from her!

Just thinking out loud.

Anybody want to start a syndicate with me?

I need a golf cart lol, kind of depressing when you go to a horse sale just to buy a golf cart ..especially this horse sale lol. I'm very excited now!

We were there a few years ago and had a great time. We met lots of nice people and saw MANY beautiful horses. Prices were high on the horses that I liked best but then they were top quality horses! I`d like to go again if I can talk a friend or two into traveling with me. It`s a long trip, at least 10 hours from central Pa.

Hey John or anyone that knows??

If we are wanting to do the phone bidding how will that be handled?? Do we call in right at 12:00 & wait till the horse that we want to bid on comes up? How do we know when to bid again etc....can you give me exact details as how this would operate??

Thanks in advance!!

I am planning on coming, not to buy (at least nothing alive), but to socialize and just have a look see. I may even have a suprise travel buddy if she doesn't back out. :bgrin

To arrange for Phone Bidding, please contact Little King Farm at 812-866-4006 PRIOR to the start of the sale on Saturday, it would be best to call at least the day before. The earlier you call to arrange the better for everyone. You will need to let someone in the office know the EXACT HORSES you are interested in for phone bidding so that we can call you back prior to that group. The horses will sell in a silent auction format, but in lot groups of 12, so it will be important to know in advance the specific horses you would like to bid on. You will also need to give payment information to Little King Farm prior to the bidding. We will need contact numbers for you so that someone from the farm can call you when the horses you are interested in comes up for bidding.

Please do not wait to call at 12:00 the day of the sale as it will be a hectic time to arrange phone bidding.

I hope that helps answer your questions. Feel free to contact Little King Farm for instructions, make sure you specify that you want PHONE BID ARRANGEMENTS and the specific horses!

This will be an exciting sale for buyers. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Thanks John for the info. Forgot to ask will there be pics posted of the horses for sale for those of us bidding by phone??

Sherry

Hi, that is a good question. With over 140 horses it is not possible to post photos on all of them. Some of them are just now being clipped up, as it is winter they will NOT be body clipped, it would be unfair to the horses.

If there are horses you would like a photo of, please email me privately and I will see what we can do. Perhaps we have photos of some of the ones you are interested in. I can talk to Robin and see what would be possible, but we will have to know early this week and we will do our best. Please do not email the day of the sale as nobody will be checking emails as our time will have to be devoted to running the sale and answering questions for people at the farm. It will be so much easier for you to contact us days prior to the sale day to get your questions answered and possible photos.

Thanks again for your questions. Look forward to hearing from you.

The question has been asked many times about photos of the horses in the Oktoberfest Sale. I spoke to Robin today and she said that anyone interested in photos can email her BY TUESDAY and we will all do our best to get photos to you. Please make sure you let us know exactly which horses as soon as you can.

We want to thank all of you for your interest and support of this Oktoberfest Sale. It should be lots of fun, let us know if we can help you in any way.

Hey there I was just looking at the Oktoberfest website and they just added the list of horses with more information on them, they are in some kind of lot order too. It says they are going to be Silent Auction and the horses will sell. There are some very impressive horses on that list. Really looking forward to Sat.

Does anyone know how the silent auction works? I've seen some do it this way, but I am not sure I understand and it would be good to know before I get there.

Thanks for any help if anyone knows more info.

John V

Just wanted to answer your question on the Silent Auction Procedure. I have just copied the exact procedures for the Oktoberfest Auction so hopefully this will explain in detail. We will have copies of this at the sale as well.

Let us know if you have any other questions. Look forward to seeing you on Saturday the 21st.

Oktoberfest Auction Procedure ~ October 21, 2006
The Horse portion of the Oktoberfest Sale will be run in a Silent Auction Format. You may place a bid at any time on the bid sheet attached to each horses stall. Bids must be in $50.00 increments and must have the bidders number with the bid.

At ½ hour intervals a group of 12 horses will be finalized and sold. The auctioneer will ask if this is the final bid, take a final bid, and the horse will be determined sold by the auctioneer at that time. The bidding will start at 12:00 Noon. The first group will be finalized at 12:30 p.m. with lot # 1 through #12 and continue every 30 minutes. At 1:00 - Lots # 13 through #24 and so on. A few horses will have reserves and those will be announced if a particular horse met the reserve or not at the time of finalization of bidding. If there is a concentrated flurry of bidding on a particular horse after the time has been called, the auctioneer will open the bidding to all interested parties and sell the horse to the highest bidder. The last bidder on the written bidding form for each horse will have the option of bidding last.

Sounds like a great sale to be at. I sure wish there were pictures of the sale horses - as well as heights of all of the horses. I really liked the Heritage Sale where everything was broadcast over the internet - although the preview broadcast was much better than the sale itself. At least a person could see the horses, hear the height of the horses, etc.

It was nice that someone has taken the time to put a description of each horse on the sales list - that is great info.

Thanks so all that are involved in this sale - it is a lot of work!!!!!!!!!

Just wish I could be there - but it's a heck of a long drive from Saskatchewan Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!
