Filly!
The weird story goes like this... We had Grace palpated on January 23. 2008 and the vet said she was open and that her uterus felt funny so we should have her ultrasounded when she goes into heat in the spring. Never happened. But she did get chubby this summer...
In September after nationals I took a good look at her and she looked at least 8 months pregnant. Had her palpated the next day and the vet said she was bred and probably due in January 09.
We decided she was probably due in December and were thinking of Christmas names.
So speed ahead to this past Thursday. We noticed she had started a bag. A small one. So we started arranging the web camera setup and tried coming up with Pilgrim names because it looked like a Thanksgiving baby.
Her bag got a little bigger but nothing alarming so we made plans to put her under camera Sunday.
At 8:00 last night my daughter called me from the barn and said Grace had a baby!!!!
Of course she had it outside.
Thank goodness it was 40* and dry outside.
She was still damp and was walking around. She'd been nursing and we saw her poop.
She'd got a fuzzy coat and is about 20" tall. Here she is at less than a day old:
What color is she? Dad is a palomino and mom is a black pinto.
Halloween names now! LOL Black Magic Woman! ????
