Look closely and you can see teeth under his jaw...on the third picture

How far do we have to take him away so he will not return??????

OMG that's one BIG dinosaur!! :new_shocked: Did you actually haul that thing into that cage? :cold:

Oh man! Look at him! :new_shocked: How cool! We had one last year that just wouldn't leave. He was about that size too! :new_shocked: He kept getting cought in our hog panel fence that separates the big horses from the pond- but his shell was too huge to fit through! He must have gotten stuck about 5 times! Good luck with him! :new_shocked:

He was trying to get to our pond where we have our Lama and Deer, and they where running back and forth all upset.

He was way to big to get through their fence but did not want him to go back into the creek and maybe return. He looks mean and nasty... I touched his tail and he ran straight into the cage. Not a smart fellow.

Just went out and measured his shell it is about 13" x 18 " Oh Bigger than I thought and that is only his shell....

I think it is probably a female and she has laid eggs somewhere. Every year I see them come up from the river and dig holes and lay eggs right along side the highway in the gravel and sand. One thing I REALLY REALLY HATE is the idiot people around here who can not let them along and purposely run over them to smash them when they see them crossing the road. And you know they've done it on purpose because the turtle is way off the road. Could not possibly have crawled that far after being smashed. We see dozens a year all smashed. But that is one BIG turtle. I have not seen one that big in years. I think just take her to the nearest river or lake and release her and she will be okay. I wouldn't think she would come back. Notice I keep saying she? hehe Good luck with her. You could always make soup, you know.

: I would not harm her neither. There are so few really big ones around anymore. It's a shame that around here on the Mississippi River they are really down in numbers because so many people do eat them. They even have a law that they have to be so big before you can keep them. I would NEVER eat one. Poor turtle.

Oooh, man! I'd want that little man or woman relocated, too! His/Her claws look monsterous!!!

My dad had those in his pond behind the house. He never could get any of his baby swans to grow up cause they kept eating them.

Dont you have ducks?

Boy oh boy, he is big isn't he! He looks mean! I wouldn't want him hanging around my place.......makes me glad all I found was moths!

Yup, I have them here in my pond. I would say it is a female laying her eggs. Please be careful around them. They are nasty and faster than you think. When they bite on to something, they don't let go!!! I was watching a young heron "fishing" just inside the edge of the pond one day when all of a sudden the heron started flapping its wings to get away and it couldn't. I ran around the pond to see but by the time I got there, the bird was gone and all I saw was the shell around a foot 'round go back down into the depths of the pond. (((SHIVERS))) I, personally, can't stand them. Too scary and dangerous for me. My Landlord "takes care of them" for me when we see them. He has his young grandchildren here a lot to fish the pond and he is concerned about one getting bit when the females come out to lay their eggs so he relocates them to another farm.
