I used to make these certain cookies (well, squares actually) years ago but now I can't remember how to do it, and haven't been able to find the recipe since. I know it was dead easy to make! It involved graham crackers for the base, brown sugar and butter (or something like that) and sliced almonds for the top. Does this sound familiar to any of you?

Yep it does!!!! Tell me if you put sweetened condensed milk in it and I'll break out the recipe for ya!

My mom makes the BEST christmas cookies, i start begging her to make up a batch in like October LOL. But they are simple cookie recipe...flour,sugar,vanilla, butter...the "basics". But, she adds in a bit of Orange Peal to the batter which adds just a little orange flavor to it...mmmmm! Then, she makes her own frosting, not that out of the can crap

Is this the recipe you're looking for Judy?

Crunchy Almond Bars Ingredients

30 Graham crackers 1 c Butter

2 c Almonds; sliced 1 c Sugar; brown, packed

Instructions for Crunchy Almond Bars

Preheat oven to 375F. Line 15" X 10" rimmed baking sheet with graham wafers in a single layer. (There should be no gaps on the baking sheet) Sprinkle 1 cup almonds over graham crackers. Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar. Bring to a boil; reduce heat to medium-low and cook, stirring about 3 minutes. (Do not cook longer or syrup will become harder). Pour over wafers, spread evenly. Sprinkle remaining almonds on top. Bake in preheated oven 375F for about 8 minutes or till bubbly all over. Place baking sheet on wire rack. Cool 5 minutes. Cut into bars. Transfer to a wire rack, cool completely. Makes: 4 DOZEN
