I'm so very sorry for your loss. It's just terrible I know.

Although you will probably never know, I agree that the poor little bit probably died from something else and the others were trying to "wake her" and get her up. I've seen dams do it when I've left them with a dead foal to grieve for a bit. They will try very hard to get a baby up and if the baby has already passed, it does looked like the little one was stomped.

It doesn't matter what the cause is, it is a painful loss no matter how it happened. Hugs to you.

I am so sorry for your lose, this makes my heart hurt for you! I also agree with some of the others. the older mares will paw at the down foals to get them up. so sad, so sorry!
