Maiden Mare

This is my ASPC/AMHR Maiden mare. She is around 310 days gestation. I broght her in last night and she laid down alot and was rubbing her butt and neck along the walls. She seemed very uncomfortable. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. These pictures were taken today.

Looks like she has a bit to go to me, but you never know with a maiden. Mine are all rubbing everything against anything they can. Once they start shedding they get itchy.

I agree, doesn't look close to me. Might be instinctively positioning the foal. Might just be itchy from shedding. Is there a chance she's got lice, ticks or fleas?

These photos were taken today. In the last 2 days she has been swishing her tail alot and laying down alot. She has barely a udder. She's also been biting at her sides as well.

Not really. This was her vulva yesterday

So is it true when some maidens don't bag up fully before labor?? If they don't, do they bag up after foaling or?

Depends on the mare the most common thing I have found with maidens is getting a larger bag once the foal starts nursing

Biting her sides and swishing her tail usually mean the baby is moving around, or pushing on something. It's so frustrating at this point because it could be any minute. Or she could have 2 months left.
