Just asking, where does it state right side for horses mane for showing?

Notice most are on right, but winners also on left.

Some horses mane just too stubburn to change?

Doesnt stipulate anywhere but, a while back a trainer and a couple judge friends of mine told me that it should always go to the right because as you enter the ring you most often go counter clockwise and it gives a clean unhindered look at the horses head neck and body as you enter.

Personally I don't feel that it really matters which side the mane lays on, as long as you have a nice neat clean appearance. I never heard anyone say they would of had that championship if they had their mane on the other side. When I first started showing I wondered this same question and after watching it was never made an issue by anyone.

I've never heard of it being an issue. As long as the mane is nicely trimmed and groomed, it really shouldn't make a difference, IMO.

I've understood the same as Lyn says, for the reason she states. I understand that it's acceptable to fall either side so long as it is neat, but for what Lyn says, I prefer the manes to the right. Of course, got some not showing now horses and it's on the left AND the right on them!!!

My colt I got in Oct has a nice white marking on his neck on his right side. So I was going to have his mane lay on the left. Most of it already does lay that way already. Most of his mane is black and would cover up the whole marking

: if I made it lay on the right side.

I figure with a yearling the length of the mane will not be long enough to cover much of his neck anyway.

Yeah, I think the showring rationale is probably the most popular reason for choosing a particular side. Since I don't primarily show and most of the horses I saw in 4-H were probably from backyard breeders, I'm used to seeing about 70% right side, 30% left side. I chose the left side because I lead from there and mount from there (on the big horse, of course! ) and that way it's easy to bury my cold fingers under their manes in the winter time.

: Besides, I compete in CDE's where the first thing the judge sees is you heading towards them up the centerline. Your forelock had better be tamed and your stride straight, but who cares where your mane is! LOL.
