Hey my mare is 337 days today. This is her 3 foal. The first foal was born month earler without udder. Then last year she had hugh udder and waxed foaled month early. This year I hand bred her had to help stud bred her so i am sure on dates, but i did let her ran with him after that but never so them do anything. My question is she showing all the signs of foaling she has very loose vurva area and looks drop. my vet came her the medicine to develop udder since she hasn't develop one. this is her five day on medicince. i notice she has wax on udder now, but the udder isn't down like it usually is. so i am confused. my vet said she could go in 24 hours. i am so confused with her. she is 1 day late by breeding dates. someone ask if i got dates wrong. i don't think he got her later. she is to loose in private area. plus this morning she didn't want her feed.

what you think?

Sounds like a normal pregnant mare.

They get uncomfortable and go off feed. You can give her a little banamine if she is very uncomfortable and stops eating for a while. We had one mare go at 372 this year. Right now I have a mare at 341. Most of our mares go around 330-345. She will go when she is ready haha

Sounds to me like she could be getting close

I've also had 2 mares this year foal with NO signs at all though!

Some mares do not develop an udder or let down any milk until they are actually foaling. Some barely get an udder. Some look like milk cows. There is no real "due date" per se - the foal comes when it is ready.

Then last year she had hugh udder and waxed foaled month early.
If she waxed up and had an udder and foaled and the foal was fine, she was not a month "early" but right on time for that foal. Most foals here arrive between 315 and 325 days. Only 2 mares here have ever gone longer than 330.

Your current mare sounds like she is close - don't go anywhere!

Sorry to read that your little mare still hasn't foaled. Just wondering what it was that your vet gave her that was supposed to bring her milk down - mostly this type medicine is not given until after the mare foals, as one can rarely be sure exactly when a mare will choose to foal or if she will produce her milk naturally after foaling - just interested.

Hope she foals soon and you can get some rest.
