Here's our grullo varnish roan app mare (I think that's what we decided she was!) shortly after foaling and still losing her winter coat- I'll get some better pics for you when I go on the other computer

This is my grulla mare "Angel". She is actually a grulla pinto. Her dam is a dun minimally marked pinto and her sire is a black pinto.

The photo below is of Angel(top of pic), Angel's dam(the dun minimal pinto) in the center, and her grulla daughter, also half sister to Angel. So it is the dam in center, daughters on each side.

here is our Grullo mare Z CANDY WHITTMAACK ( LILLY) this is her summer coat & winter coat.

Better late than never. Grulla is the best description I can think of for Erick. What you don't see in the picture is that he has a dorsal stripe. He doesn't really look like the others in ths thread. If anyone has a better idea of what colour he is I'm all ears.

Here's mine! TCM My Little Mary. She is a dark grulla, just like her mom! More pics of her on my site.

I'm very partial to this color, too, in all of its various shades!

This is the black dun mare I am showing in 2007: Iona Farms Irish Lullaby, classic mouse-shade with lots of dun factor that's hard to see in the late afternoon light:

lullabyw.jpg

This is Beauty, grulla/minimal tobiano, future AMHR driving prospect by Grosshill Dandy's Cheating Heart. She's more the "olive" shade of grullo:

beautyw.jpg

This is a grullo + roan/minimal tobiano gelding (he was head and neck clipped about a month prior to being body clipped, thus the 2 different colors!). The roaning + his (usual) more brownish/black shade of grullo makes him look almost coffee with cream-colored, thus his name: Kahlua.

Here's my grulla snow cap appaloosa mare Lacey..

101_1324.jpg

Everyone says she is gray, which I don't understand since you can CLEARLY see the shoulder barring/shading and the dark legs, only thing you can not see is a dorsal stripe which she doesn't show due to her snow cap..

Below is one of her shed out

i wasn't going to post but just can't help it... i don't own a grulla myself but my oldest daughter's riding horse is such a handsome guy...

Meet T Bar S Gunsmoke

ASmoke8close.jpg

my middle daughter has a grulla pinto miniature stallion, Sagebrush Tamale's Austin Tatious, if you see posts from ^T-bird^ he is in her Avitar... unfortunately I don't have any pictures of Austin on my photobucket... i will try to remember to ask her to post here...

My stallion is a grulla, Sequoia Alfalfas Hot Tamale

Here is my grey-grullo 2yo stallion, DunIT. His sire is Erica Killion's stallion, Little Kings B T Buck Bandito which makes DunIT a grandson of Ima Boones Little Buckeroo Too / BTU and he is also a grandson of Yellow Diamond Little Feather. DunIT is a great-grandson of Egyptian King.

I love dun factor! I have two mares who also carry it. Here they are:

Harmony Hills Harvest Gold

"looks" palomino dun / dunalino but I think she's light silver bay dun

Goldie%20--%2007012006%20--%20034.jpg

Ericas Oh What A Suprize

buckskin pinto dun

Surprise%20DSCN7244.jpg

Then lastly, I have a pony who is a bay dun named Double A Ranch's Cinco Sundance. Sundance has leg stripes, shoulder bars, edged ears, and webbing on his forehead and is basically an over-grown mini.

sundance-june2003-1.jpg

In general, I love any horse better with dun factor or "just" a dorsal stripe (that's my favorite "marking").

Minidonkeyny,

Erick has one blue eye. I wish they were both blue.

Devon,

Thanks again! I will pass your comments on to Erick but he knows how much you love him
