Scooter was Michael's little parakeet. He had her since he was a little kid. I don't like birds all that much but this was his little girl and I loved her and took good care of her for him I thought.

She was fine when I left for town, acting normal. I had just checked her water before I left and I didn't notice anything wrong with her at all. Then when I got home she was just laying on the bottom of the cage dead. It was terrible having to find her like that. I don't know what happened to her. She never acted sick at all. She was a sweet little thing. Her cage was next to Ace, the cocketiel and he's fine, or seems to be.

Jerry buried Scooter in the yard. I feel awful and I'm going to miss her a lot. I guess she just wanted to fly up and be with her boy. Good bye little Scooter. She was 12 years old.

Ah I'm sorry Marty

At least it was quick. Our bird did the same thing. The vet thought he probably had a heart attack. At least Michael doesn't have to miss her anymore

It sounds like you took really good care of Michael's bird. I did a quick google search to see how long a parakeet lives. Normally 5-7 years, maybe 10 if they are lucky.

I'm sorry Marty...they don't live real long, by the sounds of it she lived longer than most.

Marty-

Sounds like you took really good care of her. I think Michael really needed her with him.

Wow 12 years old Marty! That is a really long life for a parakeet. You did a great job of taking care of her - she is with Michael now. Hugs to you my friend.

Oh that was a good age for a parakeet. I am sure she had a wonderful life with her Mommy Marty. I know she flew right to Michael, they do love their sole mates. I had a little parakeet "Popcorn" he loved me so much, he died of a broken heart when I left him with my Mom for a short time. He wouldn't eat.. So you feel confident that you did a fantasic job with Michael's little bird.

Oh, Im so sorry to hear about little Scooter. 12 years is a long time for a little bird. She must have had a great live with you and Micheal. Marty, I love the name Scooter.....do you remember why Michael decided on the name??

Yes, 12 years is along time for a parakeet. Scooter flew right up to Michael...Take comfort in knowing that my friend...Theresa

I'm sorry to hear that Marty. We use to have a parakeet as well when I was a teenager, named in french Bebe. Was a smart little thing and use to travel on our shoulders all around the house. We use to have to be careful when she would be walking around on the ground, She absolutely adored people and loved taking a bath under the tap water in the kitchen sink

. I feel responsible that Bebe only lived about 5 years if I recall. I brought home a love bird and even though they weren't in the same cage I couldn't help back then thinking perhaps that was the reason, it caught something from the love bird. That love bird was the nastiess bird I ever owned. It use to like getting on your arm and grab your skin and twist, OUCH.

I agree Michael has one more critter to look after now with him

Hugs to you.

Marty Don't feel bad, Scooter is with Michael now ,probably sitting on his shoulder

She lived a very long time for a parakeet so you must have been wonderful to her.

Hugs to you.

Sounds like a few of our birds we have lost, no reason, and just found that way.

I'm sorry, Marty..........It probably feels that another connection to Michael has passed.........

12 years is an amazing age for a parakeet! He obviously was cared for very well.

You obviously took excellent care of Scooter, Marty, for her to live so long. I can't imagine how awful you feel, though, with Michael's beloved bird gone, and so suddenly. {{{{hugs}}}}

Marty,

That's old for a parakeet. We had one that old and she just died of a heart attack. We found her in the feed dish. She even had a companion that had died the same way a few years before her. We had gotten her another companion and we still have Bird (from Bob the Builder). It happens and it's quick so know she didn't suffer. she knew it was time to be with Micheal.

Christy

Sorry Marty

I think your parakeet died of old age, they don't live long like bigger birds. We had one when I was real young, I loved that bird so much !! He lived to be 12 also. Take care.
