Its just starting to come down here, I live in Wisc. Hubby has to go to work today and I will be so worried about him, he drives 80 miles round trip, suppose to get a 1/2 inch of ice on top of snow, besides sleet and freezing rain. I hate winters.

Just got back from the grocery store and gas station - I got out of the car at the gas station and the wind hit so hard at that particular spot and I was on a slight slope, and the ground was so icy - I just kept sliding backwards. . .and I'm not tiny by any means!

The ice is really coming down, everything is coated. I so hope this is not like last year where we ended up without power for days. I thought I could rough it and did but I could NOT have done it much longer, it was awful to be without heat/water/electricity!

Stay in if you can!!!

I'm in the very north east of Wisconsin. The storm has about 2 hours before its suppose to reach us. They are saying up to 8-12"s of snow, and possible THUNDER SNOW, (which I never heard the weather forcasters use before) later its suppose to get slushy, then back to snow. Horses are all tucked in the barn, ....maybe for a long winters nap.

Sleeting in good ole Iowa. I just don't understand why the horses won't take cover. BRRRR and it is slippery. Putting up Christmas decorations and making candy. Perfect day for this. Stay warm and DON'T go out side. dionne

We are in a snow advisory for today but we are the lucky ones this time around and we're only supposed to get about 5 inches. It has been snowing steadily since about 9 this am. I just went out to take care of my horses who are about 6 miles from where I live. It wasn't a very good drive but they look sooo pretty all covered in snow! Stay safe everyone.

Just snow up here in the middle of Minnesota but lots of it! It started at about 9 am and with the drifting it's hard to tell how much we have but I'm guessing a good 4 inches already. There are some drifts that are a couple of feet deep in the yard. Last night's forcast said we could expect 10 to 14 inches.....

We've gotten some snow but the roads are really slick... My husband is an EMT for the local fire department and he ended up going on a 4 car crash and no sooner were they on scene there was 6 vehicle crash with a semi involved not 200 yards from where the original crash took place. As soon as they were done with those crashes, which required all of the ambulances from the surrounding areas to take the people into the twin cities, there was a house fire that they responded to. Hubby's been gone since 11:45 and still has to write all of his reports before he can come home...

My advice to all involved in the snow storm is to stay at home, curl up with a good book or a good movie!

Anita beat me to it, but come on over - although it's raining here today, last week it was still in the 80s!! and you don't even have to be quiet... just clean pens

Ah, this storm is missing us. No snow here from it, but I believe southeastern Manitoba is getting a bit. We did get some wind this afternoon, and I assume that was from the storm skimming past to the south of us.

Thank goodness--these Colorado lows so often dump on us, big time--I'm sure glad this one missed.

I think we only have 6 inches of snow here. Lots of wind but the temp is warm, 25 degrees still. My horses were loving the fresh snow and running around like crazy in it. If this was winter i could easily take it as it is those -20's crap that i really hate.

I was in Virginia last week and it was 55!

We're on the edge of the storm and it probably won't get too bad here. For you folks in the bad areas it may help to know that out-of-state electrical crews have been on their way up there since yesterday. Hopefully if you lose power it won't last too long. Stay warm and please stay safe!

Hi Connie...we are having much the same weather here in northern Iowa. I just got in from chores and looks like at least 4'' of snow and now it's raining! Our power lines in the rural areas just can't take ice after that storm in Feb. they never got all the old lines replaced yet. They are functional but just not going to take heavy ice hanging.

Talked to a friend in southern IA today and they had no power do to the ice.

Geez, this is feeling like the February ice storm we had earlier this year....that was a bad one 5 days no power....living like a pioneer/little house on the prairie(I think I got in touch enough with the amish way of living in that storm ha ha ) ......melted water on the gas stove to water the horses.

Stores in the February ice storm were running on generators and people flocked to get bottled water, kerosene and supplies till power came on.

Lets hope this storm stays mostly snow....we sure don't need ice this time. Just in case I have rubbermaid 30 gallon totes full of water in the basement. Did that just a bit ago....feels better to be prepared. Water for people too so all set.

Stay safe and warm everyone. The horses are as content as can be just munching on hay after their grain and warm beet pulp...not a care in the world tonight.

YES! Snowing tons right now here, in Northern Straits area Michigan..we're right at the tip of the mitt.

They say along the coast here we'll get 12-14" but worse is the then freezing rain and ice. We for sure WILL lose our power. Dang! We're storing water right now for horses and toilets and dogs. We have a well so pump will not work. And with all these trees for sure one will go down on power line..hazard of living in North woods.

Have gas stove so can heat up stuff, but no fireplace for heat..Kerosene heater though and can turn on oven. Neither good idea but perhaps may heat just enough to keep pipes from freezing up.

You ALL be careful out there, and you know Jesus will understand if you all skip church tomorrow

Lets all check back in next couple days eh?
