I think it depends on your horse(s). My Derby makes the tee-tiniest poops! But some of the others make bigger poop balls. We just have regular rakes (all in purple!), and they work good for us.

Dona,

I noticed too that the larger Fine Tine Fork catches the pellets before they are broken down, I just bang the fork on the floor and they fall out but it is a pain. I want the smaller version but was wondering where else they are for sale besides the Woody Pet web site.

Well, I got my smaller one at Tractor Supply, but I've not noticed them in there for quite a while.

Also wanted to add.....Fine Tines forks ARE pretty sturdy, but my husband is pretty rough with them too. BUT, there is a guarantee with these forks. When my husband broke out some tines, they replaced it free of charge. Then he eventually broke some more out of the new fork, and they again replaced it....no questions asked! If my husband would only remember to use the forks only for what they are meant to be used for...there would be no problem. But no....he thinks he can use them for a shovel & pick to be forced into frozen "piles" as well.

Take a look at schneider tack www.sstack.com ; search "fine tine". They have the Jr. one. Costs with shipping just over $30.

I also am a big fan of the fine tine fork.

After I tried one to see if I liked it I then went to the fine time web site and ordered replacement heads as they are a bit cheaper and less to ship and then I put them on the handles of all the forks that I found not to work or had broken.

The heads are only 16 compared to 24.95 and we all have fork handles laying around.

I am going to recommend the fine tine fork also. It comes in two sizes. My husband likes the big one. I like the smaller one. He can get a whole stalls pick in one fill of the large fork. They are break resistant - if you don't use them like a shovel on frozen apples in the mud!
