We have several of the under 28's - our 30" Duffy son consistently downsizes, and has produced some really nice small horses.

The two sorrel fillies are both about 28"

Red Hot N Royal is about 27" now as a 2 year old (sorry about the large fuzzy photo, copied from a proof we bought before the picture got here).

I have a 28" yearling bay colt by the same sire - out of a 33" mare - who will probably mature about 29". He is showing at World in 28" & Under, and is available.

This is Bo. He's 28" at 6 years. Was born premature. He's a son of Ten L Echo's Captive Spirit.

Here is our 27" yearling that will stay in the 28" and under division. S Bar P's Heza Cut Above or T Bone is a dark buckskin with two blue eyes. His sire is Perlino pinto. He doesn't know he is a little guy either until I try to round pen him with the other show horses - then he realizes he has to step it up to keep with them!

Here is my guy. He is 27.25" bay/blue roan Desert Golds Dust Devil is 8 yrs old this year. He was shown locally as a youngster and did very well. Unfortunately, my health got in the way of showing but hope to get back in the ring soon Both of Devils grandsires are National Grand Champion Senior Stallions Devil is for sale to a good home for a reasonable price.

Do horses this small do as good in the ring as the big guys?
While I've seen some really awesome under 30" Minis kick butt in the showring.....

As a general rule, no, they don't do as well as the taller, leggier Minis. Sure doesn't stop me from loving (and preferring) the little ones tho!

WOW I love the sabino effect on that little stallion in the last photo, it looks like someone took their hand and smeared his white in all sorts of directions! Just beautiful =)

mountain_waif - I like how you describe owning a mini as just a PET and not NEEDING to show, or breed to get the full enjoyment out of him =) I love to show, but I know I wont be showing forever...i'm not a competitive shower, don't really want to go to nationals or anything like that...I just like being at a show, showing off my mini =) Someday i'll be back...lol!
