More clipping pics :)

A month ago I clipped the neck of this yearling. I've been waiting for the weather to cooperate and room in the schedule open up. I'm hoping to take the two yearlings to their first show in two weeks, so I decided yesterday was clipping day.

She did much better with this round of clipping than before. I think the difference was that it was just her and I, with no one else (including horses) around. After an 90 minutes though, there was no getting hear her face so her face still needs done. I also need to reclip her mane and forelock...I'll try again on Friday to take care of these areas.

Pretty girl Joy! Great job clipping.

Use a twitch when doing her face/head - helps a great deal - they go right to sleep on you and makes your job so much easier (and less fear of cutting/hurting them when they're jumping all around).

We remove it inbetween for some "rests" and normally we can do the rest without it as they get the idea about behaving once they've had that on a time or two. LOL

We struggled with that job the first year - but ever since we found that twitch - piece of cake.

Can't wait to see the rest of them.

I joined a local mini club (Mason Dixon Miniature Horse Association) and it's their June 6th show that I'm hoping to attend out in Frederick County. They have six shows scheduled for the season. Yesterday's was rescheduled to August 1st (due to rain), so I may get one more in than I anticipated as a result.

It's totally for fun and being around other mini people. It's low key and relaxed I'm told. I attended their "fun and fuzzy" show early this month and did find it to be a relaxed environment. We'll see what happens when I go to one of the "pointed" shows.

I'm also keeping my expectations low so that I can enjoy the experience

Yes, I know the club - sponsored them last year and I get all the newsletters and schedules. Seem like great people and I know you'll be very welcomed there - wishing you lots of blue ribbons and plenty of practice and experience for you and the horse. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

Seems almost every show was rained out last year and rescheduled. LOL
