Mountain Trail Anyone?

I'm curious if any one takes their horses to Mountain Trail courses?

I think it looks like so much fun and can't wait to get Cinnamon to a place in her ground work where traveling to Bolender Horse Park will be an option for us.

I think it would just be for fun as competing might only be for mounted equines, I'm not sure. I think I've seen pictures of mini's driving through their water obstacle.

I don't know too much myself, but I've surfed the International Mountain Trail Challenge Association https://www.imtca.org/ and the Silver Creek, Washington course https://www.bolenderhorsepark.com/ I also contacted them about mini's, and they said Mini's can compete in hand, there are pictures on those 2 websites.

So my understanding is that it's an obstacle course with natural and man made like features such as, water crossings, stepping over logs, crossing bridges, rolling bridges... and many more. I think your judged on how calm and collected you and your horse enter, move through, and exit the obstacle, watching the partnership between human and horse as they navigate difficult obstacles.

Just for fun, I also hope to add Cinnamon to my current pack string of goats so hopefully this would give her a head start on navigating trails in the back country.

I've never heard of NARTC but when I looked at the website it sounds similar. The main difference being that mountain trail is a man made obstacle course I think.

I guess Mountain Trail isn't a well known sport yet.

I saw a video on Facebook of minis driving at Bolender, but this was just a schooling day, not a competition. I'd love to drive there.

If you are close to Bolender, you're also close to Happy Trails in Ethel, where the Equestrian Institute holds their annual CDE, Driving Trials, Trec, and The Kitchen Sink. You can also pay to train your horse over the course. (If you are close near by, I imagine you are already aware of this.)
