Moonie & Tiger will be leaving this weekend for a month in quarantine in Kentucky & then on to their new owner in Australia. So, I've been trimming hooves & trying to get them as clean as possible....vacuming & showsheening (to cold to bathe now) & taking photos so Samantha can see what they look like before they leave. (I worry about how they'll look by the time they get over there.

Did Moonie today (sure is hard to get white hair "white" without bathing!) & will do Tiger tomorrow. Here are a few pics I took of Moonie. He already has a layer of "winter fat" and 1 1/2 inches of hair...so he looks pretty plump. But I'd rather see him leave looking plump than on the thin side. I've heard some horses can lose an awful lot of weight while in quarantine, so they may need that extra fat on them.

Here he is talking to his little boy "Apache".

...and doing what he does best....sweet talking the girls!

Hah!!! And she thinks I'm going to STAY clean!? Ahhhhh.....this looks like the perfect spot to take a good roll in the dirt!

Ya know....Moonie can be a real pain the the butt at times (very dominant!) in fact, I always have to muzzle him when trimming his hooves so he doesn't bite me in the butt!

but I love the guy & we have come to a mutual respect for each other. He's actually been so nice the last few days...It almost makes me wonder if he "knows" somehow, that he's leaving.

After I got him all cleaned up...we had a heart to heart talk about how much I really love him & that he is going to such a great place that he will love. He'll have his own "harem" of mares on hundreds of acres & will rule the roost & make tons of beautiful babies. He'll be the "king"....which is what he always wanted....and of course he knows he "is". While I was talking to him....he just stared at me, like he was taking it all in....and understood. And he didn't offer to nip me, even once. Just lowered his head & LICKED my hand.

Awww Dona,

He looks wondrful in those pictures, and I can understand how hard it must be to let such a huge part of your breeding program go. But how proud you must be of him and what he has produced under your careful eye!! He has doena tremendous job for you, and it's wonderful that you can let him go on to do the same for others! (Lucky Lucky Lucky others!!

Big ((((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))) For you, this must be tough.

Dona, I still remember when you had Moonie delivered to your farm when he was just a weanling.

What a wonderful legacy he will have left here in the states.

Sure wish we could have arranged that special visit

Alas it was just not in the cards this time.

It is so tough to let them go

Oh wow, I didn't know you had sold him. He's such a pretty stallion.

It's going to be tough for you to say that final good-bye....

It is really exciting for him to go so far away.... I know you are also sad. I remember when PAnda saved him by getting you when he fell in the pond. That is what I will always remember Mooney for.... he looks wonderful and you can be very proud.

Oh my gosh Dona, Moonie looks so wonderful and it's going to be so sad to see him go. I remember when he was born and how excited you were to get him ! Thank you for giving him such an awesome home and the love and attention he deserves. He has done such a fabulous job for you and I hope that his son will be able to fill his hoofs at your farm

Moonie has such a personality and attitude, they don't come like him very often... You know, when he licked your hand, that meant that he really understood everything you were telling him? Here's Moonie's mom, she is sending him some "nickers and hugs" for his long journey. We Love you Moonie!

Dona, your post absolutely speaks for all of us at a time like this. That is a long trip for the beautiful man but you have given him what he needs to make it safely to the place where he will carry on his job of making outstanding miniature horses.

Safe journey 'big' guy!

Wow that's going to be one heck of a big exciting trip. I'm sure he's going to look just fine with all that fussing of yours Dona. So many nice, really nice horses have come from Kickapoo and Mooney was lucky to have had you for his mommy. You've really put a fine stamp on Miniatures at their best and Mooney has certainly done you proud and will continue to succeed in Australia. Good luck Mooney!

Oh Dona, but they do understand when we tell them things. I'm betting he'll load and travel and all very well, besure to tell Tiger too. You may want to have the place in Ky also tell them this is a stopping place and the new palace will be soon.

And should you miss his attitude just stop by and get a dose of it from his son!

The world does revolve around the "Moonie", mine included!
