National Cake Proposal

This is what I have ready to send to the directors. Do you think it sounds okay?

Dear AMHR Directors,

I am asking if you could officially declare this year -2011- our 25th National Year so that we can officially have a cake.

I am also proposing that we auction off the 2011 National Premium Book, (front and back cover) to make money for the cake. If you can't put the money towards one specific purpose I suggest it goes towards any National Expenses. I don't care as long as we get cake. I love cake. Renee LaBarre Reiten

I sent the letter off. I have been Googling cake makers in Tulsa. But they are all kind of little. This has to be the creamiest, the frostiness', the prettiest. It has to be so big that it is pulled in with a horse and a cart. The Cake of All Cakes. I watch that cake show. How many do you think are around on Thursday night? 200- 300????????

LaVern, I'm thinking the Youth & Ammy's and the judges in the first part of Nationals..hint hint.. might want a piece of Cake also...... Maybe we could get TWO Cakes??? Guess we'll have to see how this goes over with the directors.. Thank You for taking a first step in getting something done!!

Oh, Gee I forgot about the Youth and Ammys. Hummm. Humm. Yeah, we will have to wait and see what they say. But you know something, as much as I love kids, I am kind of thinking, every thing's about the kids " The heck with the little gaffers" I know that the youth is our future, but I am thinking past and memories and history. Anniversaries are for us old people. Give the kids a taco.

LaVern, guess you didn't get the meeting...The Judges in the Youth & Ammy section might want a piece of cake... I understand about the reunion anniversary part I was just hoping for cake..

Amoreminiatures, I don't know why I said that. For heavens sakes everybody, old and young and canine too should get cake. I am just getting old and crazy.

I LOVE cake!!! Surely we can come up with enough for 2 or 3 cakes. You know, we could always charge a $1.00 per horse attending the Nationals for something that might come up....you know, like the Goverment does

Perhaps LaVern could accept money from us here. You know how a $1.00 adds up!!

I wonder if some of the AMHR clubs could donate to sponser cakes? This cake donated by_______ club etc.

And maybe some farms that don't travel too far could bring big cakes too?

Let everyone bring cakes and join in on the fun! A collective effort.

Maybe someone would pay for the cake to be made and let people donate cakes too, as above. Charge $1 for a hunk of cake and let the $ pay that person back that amount they spent. Any extra could go for a designated thing.

What is Cup Cake Wars?

Oh, with all these ideas. we sure should be able to come up with something to generate enthusiasm for our 25th year. (If the Board will officially declare it our 25th year.) Here is something I thought of this morning, but maybe to complicated. What if we had a contest for all the members that can't come to Nationals too.

With the Journal coming out timely we would have plenty of time to put the rules in the next issue and the winners in for the August National issue.

I could sponsor a page in Journal for the top winners. They could include a little something about their farm. We might even get overseas people.

You make a cake - it must have AMHR and 25 on it. You could put your farm name on it and what ever else. You send a picture of your cake to me or someone and ask Mary Lou if she would put them up and then everyone votes for the winning cakes. Even if you didn't win you still would have a cake for the old man or the kids. Or the old lady. Tell them its their birthday cake.

I was just thinking that this anniversary party should be for all. Especially after I made that crack about kids.

I am pretty sure that Betty at the Journal would think this was a hoot.

I guess I am going to be the wet blanket here , as I have to tell you since I last talked to you , I recieved my Journal,

 

Look at the list of past National Grand Champions, the first one was recorded in 1988,, So I called a couple of people including Larry Parnell that has been there for all of them, and he says it is ONLY 24 years.. So Next year will be the 25 years...

 

And I will be right there with you to celebrate that with bells on..
