Need help with color and name...TEST RESULTS ARE IN! - pg7

She is gorgeous!~

I think testing is the only way to be sure, you know the sire to my filly is tested smokey cream, but he looks to me more perlino, or cremello like he was registered....I was really surprised when he tested for smokey cream......I have not tested Cream, my mare, I may decide to test her just to see what she comes back as, I think she is perlino, but have learned that testing is the only way to know for sure.....When I do the color calculator on my two it gave 3 options, cremello, perlino or smokey cream.

If you test your little girl, let us know what the results are!

Dopey question from the color neophyte here - could one of her parents actually be a dunskin? I know it could be just countershading, but it looks like the filly might be trying for a dorsal stripe. If she got cream from one parent, and dun from the other, wouldn't that be a really light (buttermilk) buckskin? Could silver be involved here?

Is her sire a Buckskin or a Dun?

I'd say that she is a Perlino (Or maybe Dunlino?)

I have a gelding, who is Perlino, but a very very light shade of it. I'm sure like any other colour, the shades of that colour could vary... Does anyone agree?

What ever color she turns out to be, you can bet that she's as cute as they come! What a little sweetie pie!!! I like the name Last Chance Marshmallow Creme...seems to roll off the tongue better...and the marshmallow in the name suits her to a T. She looks like a cute little candy dumpling you can hold right in the palm of your hand.

I would say perlino - I have seen them as dark as this when they were born and they lightened up later on. She does also appear to be a dun with that dorsal stripe. A dun perlino.

Well, I just got in from pulling mane hairs on her, so I hope to know what for sure she is in a week or so. I am only having her tested for red and agouti, since I know she is cream (double).

As for her being dun, no, she just has the dorsal from her dam. Mom has the dorsal stripe too, but is not dun...just buckskin with a dorsal stripe...no other dun markings.

Thanks everyone for your comments and help. I think I will go ahead and stick with the Marshmallow Supreme name. Thanks again!

I thought I had the color all figured out the minute she was born, and felt confident I was correct until I read the post about RJR's foal, where my filly looks such a different color than that foal of RJR's that we all feel is smokey cream. When my girl was born, I was sure she was a smokey cream. Sire is buckskin, dam is buckskin pinto. I thought perlino was out, as no orangy colored mane/tail/points.

Now for the name. I thought I had that one figured out too, but I keep changing my mind. It is not the "barn name" I am having trouble with, as her barn name will be "Creme".(I know, spelled incorrectly, but done so purposefully) It is her registered name that I keep changing my mind about.

Here are the name choices in no particular order...which would you choose?

Last Chance Toasted Marshmallow (due to her color reminding me of that!

Last Chance Marshmallow Creme

Last Chance Marshmallow Supreme (Sire's name has "Supreme" as a part of it.)

Last Chance Marshmallow Sundae (Sundae/Sunday because she was born Sunday) If I ue this one, do you prefer Sundae, or Sunday?
