Had these on Super Bowl Sunday and can't find the exact recipe online. I've tried to contact the person who made them, but no luck so far. I was told they were the typical little smokies, wrapped in pieces of crescent rolls with some type of shredded cheese and "grey poupon" but I don't know what flavor of grey poupon it was. Don't know how long to cook and if there is anything to do to the smokies prior.

Anyone able to help???

The simple version is to get crescent roll dough that comes in a can, and open them flat (they will look like triangles. Depending on what brand they are, you might have to cut them if they are too big for your lil smokies. Then take your cheese of choice, and put it on the dough. Place lil smokie on top of the cheese, and roll it up wide and toward the point. Bake for however long your crescent roll package says at the temp it says. The lil smokies are already cooked, you dont need to prep them, they just warm in the oven.

I dont put any sauces in mine when I make them. We all like different things, so I just have a few little ramekins of different sauces out when we make them. Hubby likes to dip in bbq, I like honey mustard or original grey poupon.

Thank you both very much! I forgot the smokies are precooked, so now I feel better about not serving something undercooked ;)

I guess it will be important to not put too much cheese. And I like the idea of just leaving the sauce off and letting folks choose what kind they prefer.

how did your event go Parmela? were they a big hit?

I make these all the time. I slice my triangles of cresent rolls alittle thinner to get more strips to wind around the lil smokie - otherwise you'll need 2 cans to use all the links in the pkg. 2 cans too much so you have some waste.

I also take a little bowl and mix together parmesian cheese, garlic powder and some italian spices. Once I used the dried onion flakes instead of garlic. after rolling with dough, I touch each one into the mixture before baking. It bakes into the dough and gives alittle more pizzazz of flavor.

To cut down on your time and ingredients they now make the cresent rolls in GARLIC flavor ....... if I use those, I don't do the extra toppings.

weenies already cooked so you're only baking the dough - very few minutes - I think I just follow the directions on the actual can of cresent rolls.

On the side we have available BBQ sauce, brown spicy mustard, ketchup and folks pick what they want to dip them into.

I don't use the cheese because the strips are so small that I wind around each weenie. Although, I believe i've seen the little smokies come with cheese already in them ........ that might be something I'd try the next time.

Another recipe that is good and very quick using the same lil smokies is intended for the crockpot - both are cooked so you're really just heating them and they go over big time:

mix together APRICOT PRESERVES (whole jar) and BBQ SAUCE (whole bottle any flavor) in your crockpot

drain lil smokies and add to mixture

take a beef smoked link (or keilbasa or whateve you like - you know the ones that are in the U shape)

slice the U-shaped link into bite size slices

add to mixture

simmer in crockpot till warm - serve with slotted spoon

Thanks everyone. They went over very well!

I tried about 6 of them before the people got here so I could see what worked the best. I found out that I actually had to put more mustard and more cheese on than I expected I would to get enough flavor. I sliced each roll into 3 slices. I think I will try the idea of having several dipping sauces next time so people can choose.
