In honor of my family that is gone now, I place a piece of jewelry that belonged to them on our tree: A strand of my mother's pearls, my father's ring, and my brother's ID bracelet that I gave to him one Christmas. I know they are smiling down on us from heaven.

Merry Christmas dear family in heaven,

I know you are wishing one for me;

Your spirit fills my heart in everyway,

as I place your things upon our tree.

I know you are in the place of honor;

and while you celebrate His glorious birth,

I honor our traditions just as you taught me,

right here on this heavenly earth.

I think that is lovely Marty. Christmas is so full of memories. That's a wonderful way to honor the loved ones that aren't with us physically.

In a way, I do some similar things with our Christmas decorations too.....

Marty, that is a lovely tradition. You inspired me. My mother passed away in 1995. She loved Christmas!! I just hung her gold charm necklace on our tree and talked to her a bit. I put the necklace where the sun could shine on it during the day. I still miss her so much!!

Thank You, Marty!!

What a wonderful tradition. Made my heart warm. Merry Christmas Marty!

Oh Marty, what a wonderful and heartwarming way for a tradition. My Mom passed away in 1995 and my Dad in 1973, I miss them and my grandparents so much over the holidays. I do have all my grandmothers antique ornaments which I treasure and hang on our main tree every year. Thank you for the poem, and you and your family (and everyone else on this forum) have a WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON and MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL! Corinne
