ada, ok
On Monday we are shooting a new mini trimming dvd

Since Dan and I take it for granted as to how and what to do we would like YOUR opinion on what you (owners/breeders) would like to see and know

We have a tentative outline now but can rearrange it to fit new ideas.

so please post and let us know and we will try to get it all included.

I dont have any suggestions but put me on your customer list when you are ready to sell them! I'll take one for sure!!

I am sure you have seen it all and would know better what to include in the DVD.

But I will be interested in buying that for my hubby for a christmas gift. :488:

Oh I thought of something. I have heard that you can tell founder from a horses foot. But I have never seen that myself. So it would be interesting to what farriers see to indicate that.

Also of course corrective trimming for pigeon toe, cow hock, etc.

If you make it more than just a trimming video, and include some information on topics such as identifying and helping conditions of the hoof such as founder/laminitis, sand cracks, etc. I think that would be helpful.

What I would like is a trimming and shoeing video for Classic and Modern American SHETLANDS.

I'd be interested, too, Dawn. . . having lots of problems keeping a farrier

My horses are well behaved, I pay right away, and always offer beverage and often feed them as well. I don't get it, but I'm coming to the conclusion that I may need to suck it up and learn to do it myself, even though it really scares the crap out of me.

Sorry - that didn't help you with ideas much - but I guess I would say keep it simple for complete novices like me!

Hi Dawn, Like we talked about the other day....one for blondes

Yeah, put me on the list. Also... anything on dealing with mini stallions that think they are full grown horses would help too..

Thanks,

Lynn W

Also... the difference between tools... our farriers tools are very expensive but I often hear of cheap tools that take longer to use and aren't as good. Also, our horses the edge of the hooves don't look nice after about a month.... it's just the edge. This didn't happen with our former farrier, who did them every six weeks as does our current farrier.

Our farrier said that the price of gas is linked to the price of hooves getting done. He said when gas was $1.00 A GALLON he charged $10.00a for hooves... now he charges $30... what do you think?? Is that true?? What's the best way to treat white line disease?? etc. etc.

lynn

our prices depend on how many head are lined up and how far we have to travel

the more head the cheaper we can do it

I would love for you to include the trimming on the foals so we can see how much to take off on their little toes. Also how to correct some problems such as cow hocked. Sometimes the foals will become cow hocked and would like to see how to do the corrective trimming. I always get nervous when I trim the foals because I don't want to take off too much.

I would love to order one also.

Thanks Carlene

Put me on your list too for one.

I have a Great Farrier, she is doing a great job but it's expensive.

How about showing the differnt hooves, right angles, a mini with more of a straight hoof and very little angle, those itty bitty ones, starting from a baby on up to get the right angle, babies feet are very important and need to be done more often I think. JMO

include some of the problems with thrush, some people don't know what to look for I am sure.

And what we can do to help correct some of the minor problems with feet in between regular trimmings by a professional.

Thanks

Jan

I want to buy one when you are done! Something about how to trim for the mini that grows all heel and no toe.

I think you should show horses in different stages of founder and what can be done.

I also think you should show different problems to look for and have a whole bunch of horses that show all kinds of problems from thrush to white line etc. and what to do about them.

Show a really bad trim too and be sure you explain why it was a bad trim.
