Hi guys,

After my hectic paperwork was done, I got to go to my first Ever AMHR Rated Show. My B gelding Nitro is at Lori Rafter, and she let me get a ride with her. On Friday, I went to Lori’s and got to met more of her great horses, and clip Mannie a tiny bit. We loaded up and headed to her sister, Dale’s house.

Dale lives in a large urban area, and I’m sure her neighbors must have had a good laugh! Together, we had a great system, finishing the clippings, bathing and balding; it was great and I had so much fun!

The show started a little late but the classes were well run and the judges were very good and helpful. Also, as others have said, Judy and Steph Both have their own GREAT news to share.

Well my first class of the day was Showmanship, I was the only one, so we got two 1st.

Next was colour, four horses and we placed 2nd and 4th.

Then Model B Gelding with four horses and we placed 2nd and 3rd. I though they wanted the horses really stretched for model, but they didn’t, and the judges explained that to me! Those are good judges! Two pictures are below… Sorry that’s all the halter pictures.

In Open B Gelding there were two horses and Nitro won and was titled the Sr. B Gelding Champion by both judges! Soon after Nitro went in for the Grand Champion class. There was a total of four horses. I set Nitro up and kept my eyes on the judges, when the judges came to Nitro, I saw that he had crept forward almost a foot! Oh pooh! I backed him up and he move his feet and I just couldn’t get him squared fast enough for my likings and I feel the Judges were unpleased with my lack of presentation, put pleased enough to place us Over All Reserve Grand Champion B Gelding under both Judges! WooWhoo!!! I am SOO PROUD of my Nitro!

After that, I had Youth B Gelding Halter, and again I was the only one, so we got two 1st.

Later in the day, we had Youth B Jumper. Nitro was AMAZING! His first ever Clear and Fast jumping class! We were the only ones in the class but Nitro REALLY deserved his two 1sts! Below are some Jumping pictures; the silver dapple is my friend, Lori G’s small A gelding, he also did well.

Next was Obstacle B Open with four horses, Nitro wouldn’t back up or ground tie! Both before & after the class he did it perfectly, but not in the ring. We placed 4th twice. Dale did AWSOME with her girl Macey(sp) and I’m SOO Happy for them, they Really earned it! Then in Youth B Obstacle there were two of us. I was disqualified for entering the cones the wrong way but they aloud me to ground tie before they asked me to exit, and guess what? Nitro stood like a rock and watched me as I stepped 4 or 5 feet away from him and never moved! Yay! It wasn’t all bad! Here are some pictures of us.

Then was Lori’s Driving where she did Really well (as did Steph!) I got the chance to be Lori’s Header, I was honored! I really like her stallion, Rocky, he is a sweat heart(As is Mac)! Way to go you guys! Good Job! Here are some of Lori’s Roadster pictures.

Then I had my B Liberty class, there were, give or take 5 or 6 horses. Lori was my helper. Nitro had a hard time trotting, but rarely stopped which was good at first, but near the end I couldn’t catch Nitro and almost got disqualified for running out of time! But it turns out I placed 1st and 2nd! For our first time, I was really pleased!

I forgot to add a huge Thank you to my Dad! He knows very little about miniature but he was right in there and helping EVERYONE! From setting up a cource, changing numbers, holding horses, taking pictures, watering horses to watching the horses on the trailor. He was such a good sport about it all :aktion033: Thank you Dad! You were a Huge Help for us!

Nitro just whinnied and was trotting on the spot and my Dad had just turned to him. My Dad does like the horses, he really does

Hey kiddo!!! Congratulations once again!! :aktion033: :aktion033: I am VERY proud of both you and Nitro.. he reminds me SO much of my current B gelding that I have in for a client... (MMF Our Mini Farms Firecracker) and BOTH these boys seem to be hot, hot, hot in the gelding classes! Here is a photo of Firecracker... he had only been with me about a month before this photo shoot.. and had, the weekend before, gone Champion of Champion B Horse at his first show..

Nitro is really looking good, you are doing a great job with him! Just remember to keep his hind legs balanced underneath him... square from hip to hock to ground... his neck is really coming along, too!

His jumper photos are amazing... just LOOK how well he is holding his form in the second photo and I also think he has a great future in liberty.... gee, do ya think I LIKE this horse or what! :bgrin

When is your next show? Are you coming to Nationals? Keep up the good work... and let me know if I can be of help to you again...

I am SO incredibly proud of you and how you are showing those horses.

Hopefully some day Peanut and I can show against you in Jumper at nationals, and maybe even Dealer and Joy!

Nitro looks awesome, and I am VERY impressed with how you are jumping him, I have no corrections even, and I am ALWAYS critiquing in my head on peoples jumper style.

Congratulations!

Thanks for the pics and description of everything!

You are having a great time and that's what counts, but you're also doing well and that's great!

Hey Suzy,

Firecracker is a Beautiful Gelding! I've seen you post him on here before and I must say that he is one of the nicest geldings I have ever seen! And his eyes are iceing upon the cake :aktion033: He sure deserved Champion!

Thanks on the halter tip, I see we were way off, but we sure learned that!

His neck is coming along amazingly; I was sweating it but the driving training with Lori has improved it GREATLY :aktion033: Soon it will be normal!

Thanks for sweet comments

: He love to run and jump and he has such a talent at it too. He moves similar to a welsh cob and/or warm blood; beautifully animated. I love him, but maybe I'm barn blind :bgrin

Hopefully our next show will be August 12th, another AMHR rated show. I will not be going to Nationals this year, but I will be next year as I feel Nitro, Joy and myself will be heading to our youth peak as it is my last youth year. You are a huge help to me in many ways Suzy, Thank you :saludando:

I can't wait to compete against you; you are one of the best youth handlers of today. Many people look up to you. I feel honored to rank near you and I'm sure we'll be ready for the challenge when your knee has healed more. And yes, one day Joy too

: I am so pleased with how he jumps, I just tuned his skills and gave him confidants. And I will fix our halter

Nitro is one FINE looking horse, I've been a fan of his since the first picture you posted of him. I love those jumping pictures! Wow! Now I wish even more the photographer hadn't missed Kody in the only class I've done with him- I really wanted to see what he looked like. You and Nitro are quite the pair and I think it's wonderful how far you two have come and how much you obviously love him. Congratulations on the big wins!

And Lori, I too love your smile.

: I've just got to ask...what's UP with that cart? LOL. Little tiny wheels, high seat, and your feet perched on the crossbar from the look of things...I'm sure there's a story there. You look like you're riding a horse-drawn unicycle! Come on, share!

Leia

It is a homemade cart that I picked up at an auction sale for $60 Canadian and took home and scraped off the chipped up paint, repainted and striped it. Put a new seat on it and it works great! The wheels are tiny because if they were bigger the bike would be too tall for the horse. There are actually stirrups under the cross bar but as the field I was riding in was so rough I braced my feet on the crossbar so that if I did bounce out I wouldn't be caught up in the cart!!! Would have been embarrassing enough getting bounced out without being dragged on top of it

Also wanted to add that Nitro DID trot a fair bit in his Liberty class and he has an awesome rolling trot!!! He is some fun to drive! And although it did take him a few seconds to settle down once the music stopped Desiree neglected to tell you that her good boy did come to her in the end to be haltered.
