Non-Arab looking minis

(when he was young and spry)

(now that he's old, chubby and somewhat crippled ... but still bootiful and very loved!)

One of his foals (though certainly not the only quarter horsey one!), Circle J Zachary.

Don't get me wrong, I like the Arab look. I own 2 real Arabs and 2 half Arabs also. I just don't seem to be seeing any non arab looking minis around. I can't wait to go to a few shows and see what is out there! :bgrin

Remember in MHW those pics are professionally taken and some are touched up a bit. Just like the beautiful fashion models you see in the magazines/ads - Without all their make-up and photo touch ups, they look like everyone else.

I'm not saying all the photos in MHW are touched up, but there are definately some touch ups. And the way the photo is taken makes a big difference too. The photographers know how to set up the horse to show off it's best features.

I think Rocky is beautiful. I don't have a mini with an arab head either -

Rocky has a long lost sister named Sally (not really--but they sure look related). You sent me down memory lane, so I gave her a post of her own. No horse needs to be "Arab Type" to be a wonderful mini--or even a show horse!! I adore Rocky and his best friend Loren--hope to see many, many more pictures of your family.

My whole herd just got a big shot of self esteem from this thread! :aktion033: :aktion033: I could never get any of mine to have those skinny little necks, and although about half of mine have dishy heads, they don't look anything like the magazines! I'm glad there are more of the little squirts like mine out there!

Barnbum, you gave me quite a start when I scrolled through Choe's picture. When did you sneak over to my house and take a photo of my Silver? They are IDENTICAL, except at the moment, Silver's baby has just dropped and she looks like a miserable Volkswagon! :lol: I'll see if I can find a photo of her in the non-fat way and show you. It is uncanny!

I think a mini Frisian would be cool. I personally like the Arabish minis. I like all of the curves and the tail flag. I like to draw that kind of thing. Its probably because Arabs are my favorite big breed, but I think that there ar so many Awesome non arabish minis too that all have some great qualities as well. The little guy presented here is quite cute and I love the braided up mane. ^_^

Wow I love Rocky!! He is gorgeous!

My little Rambo here has always been considered more quarterhorsey and he would be the last to go if I ever had to give up my minis. He has been here at HHH for 18 years, since he was 4 months old and has the best temperament of any mini I have ever owned. He passes it on also -

Too bad he is so short! It is always good to rider a horse with a bigger but than your own. :bgrin

Blue has a bit of both a slightly dishy head and a nice big behind. Here he is as a yearling but he's got a lot more "motor" now. His neck really isn't that thick as this pic makes it look, he's just got a lot of mane!

I really like the quarter type mini's.

I think James (gelding) in my avatar is that type. Everyone allways says how fat he is. But when I asked one of the judges about him being fat. His reply was, with his built he would not look right thin. That he could maybe loose 10 - 15 lbs but not the 50lbs other people say he should loose.

Okay, Buck is the first one I'd agree truly looks QH like Rocky does. Very nice! And I FINALLY got to find out who that gorgeous boy in your avatar is!! :new_shocked: It's Dusty! Must...have...Dusty.....::drooling icon::
