If my beloved Grandma was so ill, I would be by her side immediately, no holds barred. Why is Obama still NOT by her side? Isn't even going until this afternoon. Poor Granny. 2-3 days is a LONG time to someone who is gravely ill. Oh I forgot there are MORE important things in life to some people than family.

My political opinion of Obama has nothing to do with my reply to you. I think he's in a very awkward position. After all, he IS running for Presiden and can't just drop what he's doing. I admire him for going to his Grandmother today because, after all, he IS running for President. I think he is handling this very wisely. In the event that he wins the election, I hope his grandmother will live to see it.

I knew he'd be in the hot seat as soon as I heard of his grandmother's illness. If he went to her right away, he would have been criticized for dropping everything and not paying enough attention to the election. If he didn't go at all, he would have been accused of being heartless and not caring about his family. I think he reached a very smart compromise here, but he'll still catch heck for it anyway.

Again, none of this has anything to do with how I feel about him as a Presidential candidate.

Thank you Sunny

and adding-I don't think ANY of us have any right to judge how ANYONE reacts to a family crisis. None of us know all the details on any part of it and it's frankly none of our business. Family is family, period.

Not by me he wouldn't have been . I would have actually thought MORE of him. After all he says he is for families? And the media said he was going right away. So maybe we shouldn't believe ANYTHING the media says about him anymore? They said he was taking off a couple of days and going to Hawaii to be with his Granny and Michelle and Biden would be campaigning for him the next 2 days. This was reported a couple of days ago. So of course I thought he was on his way. I thought they meant it. Silly me.

I'm not trying to start anything, just what I ACTUALLY thought. Guess I won't believe the media anymore even if they are very left leaning and biased. Like I said Oh silly me.

Now, if this was Palin that had not seen her granny before now you all would been flinging it out in the air. You would say that woman that wears a dress and can shoot wont even go see her ailing gandmother. *SIGH* Such a double standard life we still live in.

Well said Sunny and Laura! It is my opinion that the American public should not criticize how Obama has chosen how to handle this situation. If he would've dropped everything and ran to his Grandmother's side there would've been numerous people (including on this forum) who would've taken that as a sign of him having a "weakness". Had he not gone at all, he would've been fed to the wolves too!

I am of the opinion that everyone needs to back off the guy and let him run his life the way he needs to right now in light of his Grandmother's situation!!!

I thought, months ago, Obama did a classy thing by saying that family was off-limits when people began poking into Palin's family. He's never criticized her family or their decisions and he has encouraged his supporters to do the same.

I think it would be nice to extend the same courtesy to Obama. I can guarantee that none of us here have ever had to run for President and deal with an ailing family member at the same time.

I, personally, don't think I've shown any double standards.

Ohhh good googly moogly already. If he had left right away, people would complain. He didnt, people complain. And no, there isnt a double standard because of there was, people would be complaining that Palin is putting her job ahead of her baby. Think about it.

I, personally, don't think I've shown any double standards.
And I would like anyone to show me where I have shown a double standard as well. Unless the definition has changed - and noting the errors and screw-ups on both sides is now a double standard.

Families SHOULD be off limits.

Of course. Because he is evil - as some here have assured us.

I'm waiting for the inevitable suggestion that he is actually going to a meeting of some terrorist cell in Honolulu...

Bassett - with all due respect...instead of hinting at Deep Dark Secrets when the truth is so easily verifiable - please share the "real" reason with us.

It's not only low, kaykay - it's getting ridiculous - and sad...

Oh Yuck!! LOL
I don't know - poi tastes so yucky (JMO) that it might be better down the shorts than down the throat!

I retract my statement. I promised I wouldn't tell yet. Hey this is no worse than someone posting I have a secret about a new horse and everyone says oh please tell.

I have to wait. Ignore me.

Maybe nothing will come of it and I can't say until I'm sure.

I hear the Lua-ow Ladies wear grass roots skirts...

...and they dance the native beat of

O-bam, O-bama-bama

Nice to know you at least feel some empathy for this grandmother, the woman who basically raised this man for a considerable part of his life.
